Almost a year after her daughter Whitney Houston's death, Cissy Houston is opening up about that horrible day and its repercussions. The gospel singer, whose family called the superstar "Nippy," has written a memoir, "Remembering Whitney," and done an interview with Oprah Winfrey set to air Monday on the OWN network. "My son called me and he was screaming, 'Mom, Mommy,' Cissy told Oprah in a snippet hosted by E! News, describing how she found out her daughter had passed on Feb. 11 of last year, the night before the Grammy Awards.

Bobby Brown has taken the turnstile approach to jail, serving his 55-day sentence with only eight hours behind bars Wednesday. Just when he thought he was in, they pulled him back out again - or something like that? The R&B singer will now spend eight days wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, according to L.A. Now , which reported that county probation officials decided to go the monitoring route. Prior to that, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department had said Brown was likely to serve only nine days max because of overcrowding and time off for good behavior and the like.

Get ready for Bobby Brown, the sequel. The controversial R&B singer is returning to the reality TV arena. BET is preparing a new project with Brown, whose stormy marriage with late singer Whitney Houston was chronicled in his 2005 Bravo reality series "Being Bobby Brown. " Sources said the new series would revolve around Brown's "life and businesses. " The project with Brown, who is currently touring with the reunited New Edition, will be executive produced by James DuBose, who has developed several other celebrity-based reality shows for BET. One of his most high-profile series centered on Philadelphia Eagles star Michael Vick, who staged a comeback after being imprisoned for his involvement in a dogfighting ring.

Bobby Brown reported to court Wednesday and headed off to county jail, where he'll be serving a 55-day sentence after pleading no contest in February to DUI and driving with a suspended license. The October DUI arrest occurred when the R&B singer was already on probation for the same offense earlier in 2012. He got 10 days for drunk driving, another 10 days for driving on a suspended license and 35 days for violating his probation. Nonetheless, in L.A. County, "55 days" is code for "less than two weeks.

Bobby Brown has checked himself into rehab, his rep said Thursday, as part of the plea deal that made his March DUI arrest go away. The R&B singer, 43, checked into a "confidential rehabilitation center” last week, Brown's spokesman said in an email to the Associated Press on Thursday. The plea agreement required 90 days of alcohol treatment, his rep said.  "Mr. Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour," spokesman Christopher Brown told CNN , adding that the singer was "doing well.

Bobby Brown, who left New Edition in the 1980s for a solo career, reunited with the band Sunday night for two songs at the Essence Music Festival in Houston. As the other five members moved to slick choreography, Brown ran around the stage wildly and performed raunchy dance moves. Brown then left the stage, and the remainder of the group -- original members Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe, plus Johnny Gill, who replaced Brown -- performed several ballads.

Bobby Brown was sentenced Tuesday to 55 days in jail and four years' informal probation after pleading no contest to a DUI charge - one of two such arrests he had last year. Call it the "fool us once" sentence? Brown also pleaded no contest to driving with a suspended license. He'll be required to complete an 18-month alcohol-treatment program, and has been ordered to hit three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week.
