Three days of meetings with top North Korean officials served as "exploratory talks" on how to restart stalled six-party negotiations on nuclear weapons, the first Obama administration envoy to visit Pyongyang said Thursday. Special envoy Stephen Bosworth told reporters here that he had not seen North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, nor had he requested a meeting. U.S. officials had hoped to gain a promise from the communist regime to resume the nuclear disarmament talks, which it abandoned in 2006 when it conducted a nuclear test.

The premise is familiar: Three young women on a camping trip find themselves under siege from three unhinged attackers and fight back. But what happens in “Black Rock” is unexpected, as rather than a more typical story of female empowerment and revenge, the film explores issues of friendship and the primal bonds that come to connect people to one another. The film is directed by Katie Aselton, who also stars alongside Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth. The script for “Black Rock” was written by Aselton's husband (and co-star on TV's “The League”)

A lawyer for Lloyd's of London said Brian Bosworth's career with the Seattle Seahawks was ended by arthritis and not an injury. "What really brought about his permanent disability was not that one play but years of an accumulative effective of osteo-arthritis," Tom Merrick of Lloyd's told jurors at Bosworth's insurance lawsuit trial. Bosworth's NFL career came to an end in a game against the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989, when he injured his right shoulder while tackling running back Ron Wolfley.

Actress Kate Bosworth is quite the fashion chameleon. The "Movie 43" star goes from ultra-glam red carpet queen to Coachella stage-hopper with ease. Bosworth was spotted in a leather skirt and vest at Sundance in January and a psychedelic print mini at a party at Cecconi's last Wednesday in Los Angeles. She's now well on her way to making best dressed lists at London Fashion Week, where she donned a furry gray Topshop Unique sweater and a gray sequined Unique miniskirt for the Topshop Unique fall 2013 presentation on Sunday.  Before crossing the pond for Fashion Week, Bosworth was on hand when Topshop opened its first West Coast flagship, at the Grove in L.A. Bosworth is a celebrity face of the brand -- in December she starred in Topshop's first ever holiday film, singing "Winter Wonderland" in a video directed by her boyfriend, Michael Polish.  For the store opening on Feb. 14,  she  browsed  in a J.W. Anderson for Topshop denim shirt with no pockets, a Topshop floral print mini , high-top wedges and the Proenza Schouler PS1 clutch.

Is anyone to take seriously the University of Michigan advertisement for an athletic director in your sports section (July 19). The candidate must have superior verbal skills, a commitment to advancing student goals, be non-discriminatory and (you fill in your own superlatives). There hasn't been anyone around like that for 2,000 years. Perhaps a composite of Pope John Paul II, Vin Scully, Jesse Jackson, Jim Murray, Margaret Thatcher, Bob Knight, Al Davis, Andy Rooney, Lee Iaccoca, and just a pinch of Bosworth (anywhere but from his mouth)

The everyday handbags of choice for Hollywood this spring, as seen on the arms of Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Watts, Emma Roberts and Kate Bosworth, aren't by Louis Vuitton, Hermes or Dior. They're by Paris-based Jerome Dreyfuss, who shares his laid-back, bohemian design sensibility and his home with another hot-in-Hollywood designer, Isabel Marant. Parker has been photographed running errands with Richard, a colorful, perforated patchwork leather bag, Roberts has fallen for the black leather drawstring Alain, and Watts has been spotted out and about with Igor, a black python cross-body style.

It was announced Tuesday that French designer Isabel Marant will be bringing her signature boho style to H&M, designing a collection that will hit stores worldwide Nov. 14. But the question is why? And will this latest hi-low collaboration signal the end of Marant's reign as the queen of insider cool, and preferred purveyor of Hollywood's boho chic off-duty uniform, as worn by Kate Bosworth, Katie Holmes and Sarah Jessica Parker? The H&M collection will include “a wardrobe of must-have pieces inspired by her signature style,” the press materials said, with clothing and accessories for women and teenagers, as well as Marant's first-ever collection for men. “I am flattered by this collaboration.

In a year that has seen would-be action heroes Jeff Speakman and Brian Bosworth make well-orchestrated attempts to muscle their way into the action-adventure movie arena, Columbia Pictures is clearly betting that Jean-Claude Van Damme could be the next Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal--or even Arnold Schwarzenegger. "Double Impact," the $15-million action film in which Van Damme plays dual roles, opened well Aug. 9 and has grossed $15.

Topshop's first Los Angeles store isn't opening at the Grove until Feb. 14, but the U.K.-based fast-fashion retailer is already forging ties with Hollywood. Today, Topshop releases “Winter Wonderland,” its first holiday film starring the ever-fashionable Kate Bosworth and directed by her fiancé, Michael Polish. And we have the exclusive scoop from Bosworth herself. Inspired by the famous piano scene with Michelle Pfeiffer in “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” the two-minute Topshop film was shot in London at Café de Paris and features Bosworth singing “Winter Wonderland” and looking smokin' hot in a sparkly Bordeaux, long-sleeved cocktail dress and matching pumps that she designed in collaboration with the Topshop design team.

U.S. envoy Stephen Bosworth arrived in South Korea on Tuesday expressing hope for the resumption of long-stalled negotiations over North Korea's increasingly worrisome nuclear program. Bosworth, launching a northeast Asian tour that is to include stops in China and Japan, planned to meet Wednesday with key South Korean Foreign Ministry officials. Both Koreas recently have made conciliatory gestures after weeks of tension that included the North's artillery shelling in November of a front-line island that killed four people.

U.S. special envoy Stephen Bosworth arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday for three days of high-level meetings that officials hope will draw an isolationist and nuclear-armed North Korea back to stalled six-party disarmament talks. The meetings will be the first direct U.S. diplomatic overture to Pyongyang since President Obama took office this year on a campaign pledge to try to persuade the Stalinist regime to abandon its growing atomic arsenal. For its part, analysts here say, North Korea will express its displeasure over what it calls a hostile U.S. policy that includes strict economic sanctions.

Who can keep track of those Spice Girls and their real estate doings? Scary Spice (Melanie Brown), who apparently got the nickname for not always following Emily Post's advice, no sooner listed her Hollywood Hills home for $2,999,999 than it sold for more than the asking price. The contemporary, which the Multiple Listing Service described as "ultra chic," came on the market in late March and sold for $3.14 million.
