Bristol Palin is back. So is Kirstie Alley. ABC on Friday announced the 12 cast members for this fall's"Dancing With the Stars. " It's not a new lineup, however, but a return of celebrities from the previous cycles of the show. Palin and Alley - two of the most attention-grabbing contestants of recent years - are among those scooting back to the dance floor. Palin, an activist and the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, bestowed high ratings on the show during her run two years ago. Alley is the former "Cheers" costar known for her battles with her weight.

Since his days on "Friends,"Matthew Perry has been drawn toward roles with a bit of an edge. "I've gravitated toward broken characters who try to be better people," Perry said. It's a strategy that has not exactly worked for the actor. His last series, "Mr. Sunshine,"about the put-upon manager of a San Diego arena, flopped on ABC. And "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," where he played the intense executive producer-head writer of a network comedy-variety show, also stalled. But he has higher hopes for his new NBC show,"Go On," even though he's again tackling an edgy character: a sports talk radio host who wants to go back to work not long after the sudden death of his wife.

Bristol Palin wants to make it clear: Yes, her 3-year-old son, Tripp, used an F-word. But it wasn't that F-word, the gay slur, it was the other F-word, currently available in any fast-food line, movie-theater queue or family snowmobile gathering. Noting on her blog that the Huffington Post was reporting Tripp had used the gay slur on camera, the mini mama grizzly explained what had happened. (You can watch Bristol and her sister's reaction to the verbal slip in the "Life's a Tripp" video clip below.)

Sherman Hemsley, who was found dead Tuesday in El Paso at the age of 74, gained fame as the cantankerous George Jefferson on "All in the Family" and its spinoff "The Jeffersons. " But he had one role he wanted to play before the end of his career: Willy Loman. "He wanted to do 'Death of a Salesman,'" said veteran director Oz Scott, who directed 40 episodes of "The Jeffersons. " "I spoke to him about a year and a half, two years ago, and he said he had this last dream, to do 'Death of a Salesman.' We had a few talks about doing it. " Added Scott: "Sherman was an actor first.

Bristol Palin is defending her 3-year-old son, Tripp, after a filmed tantrum on an episode of the family reality show "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp" showed the boy dropping a censored F-bomb. While the initial controversy surrounded the perception that the boy said a homophobic slur, Palin maintains the boy said a different kind of F-word that was offensive but less slurr-y. "As I've said before, I sometimes struggle to raise Tripp," Palin wrote on Monday. "However, he does NOT use slurs ... Let me be clear. I'm not proud of what he did say. Sadly, he used a different 'f word.' " In the scene, Tripp throws a fit after being told he can't go for a swim in a hotel pool.

"Stars Earn Stripes," NBC's upcoming summer reality competition show, just announced which celebrities will enter boot camp, and it's a typically eclectic lot. Most notably, Todd Palin, husband of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is in the mix. How many political junkies just set this thing up on the DVR? Like a military "Dancing With the Stars," the show pairs celebrities with current and former members of the armed forces as the Hollywood lightweights attempt to complete a series of challenges.
