If members of the Service Corps of Retired Executives have one thing in common, it's that they have made mistakes from time to time during their business careers. Plus, they want to help other executives avoid making those same routine errors. As part of its outreach effort to a newer crop of entrepreneurs, the 30-member Ventura County chapter of SCORE will host a series of business development workshops beginning Sept. 18 at Oxnard College.

Traditionally, the Camarillo name has not been associated with the Waterford name. Though Camarillo's reputation has grown in recent years with its premium outlet stores and expanding collection of high-tech businesses, the city doesn't conjure up the same upscale image as Waterford, the port town in Ireland that gave birth to Waterford Crystal. But businessman Tom Dodson is hoping to change that.

Barton has been affiliated with the Easter Seal Society since 1996. She recently served as president of the Ventura Soroptimists. * Robert H. Bank of Ventura has once again been rated a "Premier Performing" bank by the Findley Reports. Findley publishes an annual analysis of financial institutions in California, providing comparisons and evaluation of performance. Bank of Ventura's ranking was based on 1998 performance and growth in assets, net operating income, low loan losses and return on equity. It is located at 5808 Telephone Road in Ventura.

Semtech Corp. in Newbury Park reported second-quarter sales of $38.3 million, a 50% increase over sales of $25.5 million for the same quarter a year ago and a 16% climb over the previous quarter's sales of $33 million. Net income increased 148% to a record $6.2 million or 36 cents per diluted share, compared with $2.5 million or 16 cents per diluted share for the second quarter of last year. On a sequential basis, net income for the second quarter increased 31%.
