PHOENIX  -- Zack Greinke has canceled his Saturday bullpen session because of lingering problems with his right calf muscle, a development that reduces his chances of pitching in the Dodgers' season-opening series in Australia. Greinke strained the muscle Thursday in his first start of the exhibition season. He was removed from the game after making only four pitches. With Greinke's status uncertain, the Dodgers could start Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dan Haren in their two-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia on March 22-23.

He said it feels similar to an injury he suffered three years ago that caused him to sit out for a month.

Lyle Alzado's comeback hit a bit of a snag when he strained his right calf muscle in the Raiders' first practice at training camp Monday afternoon. Alzado said he felt a twinge in his right leg during a non-contact drill, so he sat out the rest of the practice as a precaution. The 41-year-old defensive end doubts the injury will deter his bid to make the team after a four-year retirement. "If I feel something tight it's silly to really push myself," Alzado said.

Puig was removed from the Dodgers' 10-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday because of stiffness in the top of his calf muscle. That part of the leg has been bothering him since the Dodgers visited Miami last month.
