A federal jury has ordered the seizure of more than $10 million in assets from a Los Angeles company that is the nation's largest distributor of X-rated videos. The jury ordered the seizure of California Publishers Liquidating Corp. assets--including bank accounts and two warehouses--after it found the firm guilty of shipping obscene cassettes to Dallas. A federal court jury in Dallas has convicted a California distributor of X-rated videos and five other defendants of shipping obscene cassettes to Dallas in 1989. The 12 jurors acquitted one defendant and could not reach a verdict on four of the seven counts against each of the others. The jury must still decide whether the distributor, California Publishers Liquidating Corp.

A federal grand jury in Dallas on Monday indicted three Los Angeles companies and five of their officials on charges of interstate transportation of obscene material and conspiracy, alleging that they have run a wholesale distribution system for hard-core pornographic material.
