Kate Moss, who first appeared as the face of Calvin Klein in 1992, will star in a new Calvin Klein ad campaign this fall, the company said Monday. "Kate and the Calvin Klein brand have a long history together, and it felt natural to reunite them for this new Jeans campaign, which will inevitably reignite that spark and highlight the sexy, cool essence of both Kate and Calvin Klein," said campaign creative director Fabien Baron.

Calvin Klein, the edgy American designer known for racy ads and $70 jeans, is looking for a buyer or partner for his New York-based fashion company. Klein wants to expand his $2.5-billion empire in accessories, beauty products, men's wear, active sportswear and home furnishings. The privately owned company also wants to open more retail stores. The company said it had hired Lazard Freres & Co.

Designer Calvin Klein and Linda Wachner, chief executive of Warnaco Group Inc., reached an eleventh-hour settlement of their trade infringement battle Monday, avoiding a federal trial and preserving a lucrative partnership. The two fashion heavyweights sealed the deal with a handshake and air kisses in a Manhattan courtroom only minutes before a judge was to begin picking a jury for Calvin Klein Inc.'s lawsuit against Warnaco.

Fashion giant Calvin Klein Inc. is suing Warnaco Group Inc., alleging that the maker of its underwear and jeans lines violated the designer's trademarks and improperly sold merchandise. The lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in New York, seeks to end all agreements between the two companies, both based in New York. It also seeks to recoup Warnaco's profit from improper sales and asked for unspecified compensatory damages.

Calvin Klein pulled an advertising campaign after critics said the ads for children's underwear may have gone too far. "The comments and reaction that we have received today raised issues that we had not fully considered," the company said in a statement. "As a result, we have decided to discontinue the campaign immediately." The campaign was to be launched today with a billboard in Times Square, featuring young boys and girls in underwear jumping on a sofa.
