Carol Hollfelder says she doesn't feel inspirational, but as a paraplegic competing in a physical world and as a woman competing in a man's world, she is an inspiration to many. "If some little girl, or some little handicapped kid, sees me pulling on my helmet and flipping down my visor and it gives them encouragement, then maybe what I'm doing is inspirational," she said. "But I look at it as something I'm loving to do for myself."

Carol Hollfelder rides in a wheelchair, not on a broomstick. When she wants speed, she climbs into a Ferrari and chases other cars around a racetrack. When she wants spiritual fulfillment, she prays to Father Sky and Mother Earth. Hollfelder, 31, is a witch. But she's not the evil, black magic, Satan-worshiping practitioner many people associate with the term, she said Saturday during a ritualistic gathering of pagans at the Lincoln Memorial.

Cindy Figg-Currier took last year off from the LPGA Tour to give birth to her second child. In her first week away from the kids this year, she is tied for the lead halfway through the Big Apple Classic in New Rochelle, N.Y. Figg-Currier had a bogey-free round of 65 that featured four birdies on her front nine, including a tap-in on the par-five 18th after a 35-foot putt for eagle hung on the lip. That left her tied with Hee-Won Han at eight-under-par 134.
