College basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb offered an apology Thursday night after he said he was on a CBS pregame telecast to bring the "white man's perspective" to the show, which featured four African American men on the set. "I don't know why you guys ask me," Gottlieb said of their interest in his opinion of the Marquette-Miami game, "I'm just here to bring diversity to this set, give kind of the white man's perspective. " Host Greg Gumble immediately turned away from the desk while analysts Greg Anthony, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley shared some nervous laughter as you can see in the video below.

After the coffee. Before getting over jet lag. The Skinny: On Tuesday, I said I missed Monday's "The Following. " Last night, I caught up with it and was infuriated as usual. Don't any of these FBI agents wear bulletproof vests, and don't they know better than to stand in front of a door with a gunman on the other side? Today's headlines include CBS striking a deal for half of the TV Guide Network, and women and minorities making some gains in landing writing gigs on TV, but progress is slow.

CBS Corp. has acquired a 50% stake in the TV Guide Network for about $100 million, giving the big broadcaster a larger toehold in cable television. CBS said Tuesday it had entered into a joint venture with the independent film and television studio Lionsgate, which owns the other 50% of the channel also known as TVGN. CBS bought out the stake held by One Equity Partners, an investment arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co. The 32-year-old TVGN is widely distributed -- it is available in 80 million homes -- but it has stumbled attempting to create an identity after the conversion to digital channels that made the TV Guide channel's once useful rolling scroll of cable channel program schedules irrelevant. After the coffee. Before the matzo ball soup. The Skinny: I'm in D.C. for Passover, and it snowed here. So much for seeing some cherry blossoms, lunching at an outdoor cafe near the Capitol and taking a nice long jog. Monday's headlines include a recap of the box office and yet another story on the struggles of NBC's "Today. " Daily Dose: NBC, which suffered through a brutal winter, is hoping for a spring renewal starting Monday night with the return of "The Voice" and the network's drama "Revolution," which delivered solid numbers in its fall debut.

Looking to expand its cable portfolio, CBS is in talks to acquire a 50% stake in TV Guide Network for about $100 million. Currently co-owned by Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. and One Equity Partners, an investment arm of JPMorgan Chase, TVGN has been on the block for more than a year. CBS would acquire the stake held by One Equity Partners, people familiar with the talks said. An agreement could be announced as early as next week. Although it is distributed in more than 80 million homes, TVGN has struggled in its attempts to become a mainstream entertainment channel.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas -- but it doesn't stay on Tuesday nights. CBS announced it is moving freshman drama "Vegas" to Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT -- the slot that the network had previously announced "Golden Boy" would take up. Though a new episode of "Golden Boy" will air this Friday in that slot as scheduled (hey, why not make use of those ads while they can?), that's where its end-of-the-week airings stop. PHOTOS: It's going to be a long, dull summer without Jon Stewart Instead, "Golden Boy," the new cop drama created by Greg Berlanti , will stay put on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, after performing well in the "Vegas" slot during its preview airings on Feb. 26 and March 3. It won its time period in total viewers and key demos, with each episode averaging 10 million viewers, a 2.6 in adults 25-54, and 1.7 in adults 18-49.

A tweet from Kaley Cuoco, co-star of CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," is making a big bang of its own. Cuoco tweeted praise for Dish Network's new DVR called the Hopper as part of an endorsement deal with the satellite broadcaster. She said, "Amazing! Watching live TV anywhere on the #Hopper looks pretty awesome! Now where can I find a tiny beer? #ad" Then the tweet disappeared and Dish accused CBS of ordering her to take it down. CBS is engaged in a legal fight with Dish over the commercial-skipping feature in its Hopper DVR. "It is disappointing that CBS -- once the exemplar of editorial independence and innovation -- continues to use its heavy hand to hold back progress from consumers," Dish Chief Executive Joe Clayton said in a statement.
