What does hip-hop singer-songwriter Cee Lo Green have in common with Liberace? The Strip's newest production,  “ CeeLo Green is Loberace ,” answers that question. The show opened Wednesday at Planet Hollywood's 1,400-seat theater, beginning a 28-show performance that continues Wednesdays-Saturdays through April 13. So how are the two, whose musical styles are polar opposites, alike? Flamboyance. Green's show promises plenty of over-the-top production values, just like Liberace's legendary years at the Las Vegas Hilton.

While Usher's foot gets comfy in CeeLo Green's revolving red chair over on "The Voice" comes news the bald virtuoso is set to appear on another reality show: his own. TBS has ordered six episodes of "The CeeLo Life" (working title), which will follow the music star as he handles a full schedule of producing, recording, performing, and finding bawdy outfits to wear. Reporting from New York ? Cee Lo Green stretched out his large, limber frame on a sofa in the penthouse suite of Manhattan's Marcel Hotel, receiving a visitor with a bewitching grin. He seemed, for a moment, like an exotic creature: a gryphon or a sphinx or a particularly mischievous reincarnation of the Buddha. Looks can be deceiving. The 36-year-old Green enjoys dazzling people, but he is human and totally aware of how useful eccentricity can be. "I am a rare occasion," he said, turning the word "rare" into a purring roar.

As rumors trickle out about potential Rolling Stones 50th anniversary shows, here comes fall TV's reality show season, once again shining a light on classic catalogs and sending artistic creativity scurrying into the shadows. To wit, the latest season of NBC's singing competition series "The Voice" began with a cover of the Stones' classic "Start Me Up," courtesy of the show's four judges, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton. If there's ever been a more cringe-inducing take on the song from A-list stars, Pop & Hiss would prefer to remain ignorant of it. Though please watch the video and judge for yourself.

It's word association time. Say the first word that springs to mind: "holiday ----. " Did you think "season"? "Sale"? "Hangover"? How about "music?" This year, there are plenty of new holiday albums to pick from. Cee Lo Green, English pop-rocker Tracey Thorn and the left-field collective Redtenbacher Funkestra are just a few of the dozens of entertainers with albums out there made for celebrating the season. But which ones will offer yuletide cheer and which will feel like the same old thing, re-gifted?

At the start of the second set of live playoffs on "The Voice" on Wednesday night, in which the members of Team CeeLo and Team Christina performed, energy was low. The previous night had been long, what with the presidential election and all, and the coaches - like many of the rest of us - were looking a tad tired. But while Adam Levine and Blake Shelton could look forward to sitting back and being "entertained," as Levine put it, since their teams had performed earlier in the week, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green had to look lively.

At the outset of Tuesday night's "The Voice"  -- the fifth night of blind auditions in a mere two weeks -- Adam Levine had already landed nine contestants for his team, as had Christina Aguilera, whereas Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green each had just seven. By the end of the night, Green had surged to match Levine with a total of 11 team members apiece. Aguilera had 10. Shelton's count, however, remained stalled at seven -- and it wasn't for lack of trying. Shelton's ratio of button pushes to new team members, he confessed after yet another contestant had tossed him aside in favor of another coach, had left him "feeling a little bit losery.

The key to the surprising success of "The Voice," NBC's new Tuesday night music reality show, can be captured in something that country music singer Blake Shelton, one of the four musical "coaches" on the new hit, said after blindly hearing a rotund, bearded blues rock singer known as Nakia sing fellow panelist Cee Lo Green's smash "Forget You. " "You look nothing like I expected," said Shelton. "I don't know what I expected, but I didn't expect to turn around and feel threatened, and I do a little bit. " Shelton, mind you, is 6 feet 5, has a bear-track-and-barbed-wire tattoo on his left forearm and twinkle in his eye. "Those are the things that, to me, make an artist," he continued, "the things that are unique about us. " Looking at his fellow singer-coaches -- Green, diva Christina Aguilera and blue-eyed soul singer Adam Levine of Maroon 5 -- Shelton added: "And I feel like every one of us here is unique and had to beat some odds.

The prospects for pant-less days and bedazzled outfits on "The Voice" just diminished significantly: NBC announced Monday that Shakira and Usher will join the show's judges panel in the spring, filling in for pant-fearing Christina Aguilera and sequin-loving Cee Lo Green. The move will allow the veteran judges some breathing room as they embark on other projects. Aguilera is releasing a new album and going on tour. Green is working on new music and developing a scripted comedy series for the network based on his life.

Christina Aguilera is finally ready to jump back into making music. After months of unconfirmed rumors, the singer announced her comeback record, “Lotus,” will hit stores Nov. 13. Aguilera, who is turning heads (and her chair) on NBC's singing competition “The Voice,” will premiere the album's lead single “Your Body” on Friday. The track, which was written and produced by hit-makers Max Martin and Shellback and co-written by Savan Kotecha, will hit digital retailers Sept.
