The Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team defeated San Jose State, 192.30-180.55, setting a school scoring record in a match at Titan Gym Friday. The Titans (3-1) broke their record of 192.25 set in 1989. Fullerton's Celeste Delia won the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise, while Cristi Clifford tied a school record on the balance beam with a score of 9.85. Fullerton's Brandi Baldasano won the all-around with 38.80 points.

Led by Celeste Delia, who won four of five possible events, Cal State Fullerton beat Stanford, 191.75-186.30, Friday night at Titan Gym to give Lynn Rogers his 200th regular-season gymnastics coaching victory at the school. Delia won the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise to lead the upset of the Cardinal, ranked 12th nationally, in the season opener for both teams. Delia also set school records for the floor exercise (9.85 points) and all-around (38.95).

Cal State Fullerton's Celeste Delia won the overall title at the Big West Conference women's gymnastics championships, leading the Titans to the team title Sunday at the Events Center in San Jose. The Titans won the team title with 190.50 points. Utah State (190.45) was second and UC Santa Barbara (189.05) third. The overall victory for Delia, a senior from Covina Northview High School, was her third consecutive.

University of the Pacific swept UC Irvine in singles for a 5-0 victory in a quarterfinal match of the Big West Conference women's tennis championship Thursday at the Ojai Valley Racquet Club. Tracee Lee of Pacific beat Irvine's Janet Johnson, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Pacific advances to play No. 2-seeded Nevada Las Vegas, which beat New Mexico State, 5-0.

Charlie Ross scored 33 points and Eric Bajus 29 as Pacific Christian defeated Simpson, 133-89, Friday and advanced to the regional final in the National Christian College Athletic Assn. men's basketball tournament. A victory over San Jose Christian tonight at 8 would send Pacific Christian to the national finals in Springfield, Mo. Jarod Beldon led Simpson (9-15) with 27 points.

Georgia Tech, the top-ranked team in the Baseball America poll, scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to defeat No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, 7-6, in the Oscar Mayer Classic in the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Fullerton (7-5) took a one-run lead in the top of the inning when Nate Rodriquez drove in Tony Banks with a single. Rodriquez's hit extended his hitting streak to nine games.
