In her best-selling book, Hillary Rodham Clinton describes the night she and her husband began role-playing exercises designed to prepare their child for a world of hostile politics. Chelsea was 6. As her father pretended to be a politician viciously castigating Bill Clinton, Chelsea began to cry. But the parents continued the exercise for hours until the little girl "gradually gained mastery over her emotions and some insight into the situations that might arise."

Former President Clinton has officially joined Twitter, sending his first tweets to daughter Chelsea and television host Stephen Colbert. "Excited to join @ChelseaClinton and my good friend @StephenAtHome on Twitter!" he tweeted Wednesday from the account @billclinton. "Just got a call from Chelsea. Ready to start Twitter lessons tonight. " Colbert, the host of Comedy Central's "Colbert Report," urged Clinton to join Twitter during a segment taped April 6 at the Clinton Global Initiative that aired April 8. "I understand that you don't use all of the Internet, you might go on the Internet, but you don't email, you don't Facebook, you're not Pinterest-ing," Colbert said.

Chelsea's home for the holidays. Stanford University's most famous freshman arrived back at the White House on Saturday evening, a day after the end of her first quarter. With her parents by her side, Chelsea Clinton attended services Sunday at the Foundry United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the youth group before leaving for Stanford in Palo Alto. She's due back for classes Jan. 6.

NBA center Jason Collins became the first male athlete in a major pro sport to come out as gay on Monday, and he received immediate support from a big name: former President Bill Clinton. Collins went to Stanford at the same time as Clinton's daughter, Chelsea. "I have known Jason Collins since he was Chelsea's classmate and friend at Stanford," Clinton said in a statement. Texas Gov. George W. Bush joined President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in voicing disappointment about a People magazine cover story on Chelsea Clinton, saying concerns about his own teenage daughters remain a factor as he considers running for president. "If the president and Mrs. Clinton are disappointed that their daughter's on the cover of the magazine, I'm disappointed for them," Bush said. Last week, the Clintons said they were "profoundly saddened" by People's coverage.

Chelsea Clinton, out seeing the sights of New York while her father prepared to claim the Democratic presidential nomination, got leg cramps climbing the steps at the Statue of Liberty. "She's totally fine," Clinton spokeswoman Dee Dee Myers said Tuesday after the candidate's 12-year-old daughter was brought back to Clinton's hotel in a wheelchair as a precaution.
