A fugitive featured on the television show "America's Most Wanted" after being found guilty of sodomizing three girls in New York was arrested Thursday at a motel here, authorities said. Ronald Craig Vahue, 47, fled to California while he was free on bail and awaiting sentencing in Rochester, N.Y., in March 1994 and has since been living at the Villa Park Motel in Orange, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Jason Constantine.

A priest wanted in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old New Jersey girl was arrested as he prepared to board a plane for Haiti. Jean Level Eliscard, 28, was arrested Saturday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, officials said. He was charged with aggravated sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, according to police in Hamilton Township, N.J. Eliscard apparently realized he was a suspect and tried to leave the country, police allege.

Gargano, 67, was remanded to jail without bail by a Suffolk County judge. He faces at least 26 years in prison when sentenced on June 19.
