Authorities on Saturday identified two men killed in a workplace shooting at a Southern California Edison office in Irwindale, as well as the gunman, who investigators said was a co-worker. Robert Scott Lindsay, 53, of Chino Hills and Henry Serrano, 56, of Walnut were killed Friday when Andre Turner, 48, of Norco opened fire in the office with a semiautomatic handgun, then took his own life. Two others, Angela Alvarez, 46, of Glendale, an Edison employee, and Abhay Pimpale, 38, of Montebello, a contract worker, were wounded and in critical condition.

A man accused of striking a 15-year-old Irvine boy with a metal pole after the boy's parents asked him to discipline the youth on their behalf has been booked on suspicion of felony willful cruelty to a child, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. According to investigators, the parents found a lighter in the boy's possession and suspected that he had been smoking. The boy, who was not identified because of his age, was taken to the home of Paul Kim, 39, of Chino Hills, who attended the same La Habra church the family attended.

A towering steel utility pole, as tall as a giant sequoia, spirals upward just behind Cris Garcia's backyard in Chino Hills, close enough to cast a shadow on his kids' swing set and, he fears, to hear the hum of the 500-kilovolt power lines that may soon go up. The towers popped up along the gentle rolling hills of this upscale San Bernardino County community earlier this year, sending the simmering local opposition into a full boil and drawing more...

If Corona Centennial claims its third Inland Division title in four years this week, it can look back to Friday's 42-23 semifinal victory over Chino Hills as the bridge that got it there. For the first time this season, the Huskies did not blow out an opponent and actually trailed for most of the first half before scoring two touchdowns in the last minute of the first half. But mistakes in the second half, coupled with the strong play of Chino Hills running back Ifo Ekpre-Olomu , meant Centennial couldn't relax until the closing minutes.

All you need to know about defensive back Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Chino Hills is that in a Southern Section quarterfinal playoff game last fall, he scored five touchdowns and made three interceptions. "I was tired," he said. At 5 feet 11, 190 pounds, the senior whose parents came here from Nigeria begins the 2010 season as the No. 1 defensive back prospect in Southern California because of his ability to unleash a sudden burst of speed combined with his technique and versatility.
