It's not a new thing for Darren Collison to start in place of All-Star point guard Chris Paul. And it's not a new thing for Collison to have success when he has started for an injured Paul. It's just that Clippers fans are seeing Collison playing his best basketball of the season now that he is starting for Paul, who will be out up to six weeks with a separation of his right shoulder. Collison has started 42 games in his career in place of Paul, starting with 37 games when the two played in New Orleans and Paul was out with ankle, knee and finger injuries.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - While Chris Paul was getting his bruised right kneecap worked on in the training room Thursday morning, Caron Butler was on the Target Center court participating in the Clippers' shoot-around. Butler said he will play Thursday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite a sore right foot. The Clippers have been listing Paul as day-to-day, but he has missed the last two games. There were no indications that Paul would play against Minnesota, meaning that backup Eric Bledsoe would be the starting point guard.

Clippers point guard Chris Paul didn't play against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night because of a strained right hamstring. Coach Doc Rivers said he told head athletic trainer Jasen Powell the team wanted to be “way more conservative than aggressive” with Paul's injury. The Clippers play the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon at Staples Center, but Paul might miss that game too. The Clippers start an 11-day trip with a game in Atlanta on Wednesday. Rivers is hoping that Paul will be healthy for the road games.

Blake Griffin walked past the media after the Clippers' shoot-around without talking about his sprained right ankle that has left his status uncertain for Friday night's Game 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro stayed with the company line regarding Griffin playing against the Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum. “Blake's status is it's game-time,” Del Negro said. “He's battling through it and we'll see how he feels once he gets his warm-ups and we'll see where we're at.” Chris Paul had his bruised left thumb wrapped during practice, but he said that he will play.

During Clippers Coach Doc Rivers' post-game news conference following a victory over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night, he made a passing comment about the health of guards Chris Paul and Darren Collison. But as it has turned out, Paul was feeling fine on Tuesday after feeling some discomfort in his right groin muscle during the Suns game. Collison also was feeling better on Tuesday after he was hit in the groin area by Suns guard Goran Dragic during the game. Both Paul and Collison will play Wednesday night when the Clippers host the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center.

Chris Paul a “cheater?” So says DeMarcus Cousins, the mercurial Sacramento Kings center, who still is known more for his boorish behavior than high character. Cousins spoke in an interview about his dislike for Paul, the Clippers' point guard. “It's just some players I don't respect,” Cousins told ESPN's Grantland website about Paul. “Just their playing style of basketball. I don't respect it. I feel like it's basically cheating and I don't respect a cheater. If that's your tactic to winning, I don't respect you.” Paul and Cousins have had their run-ins.

When Chris Paul found out that Chauncey Billups is out indefinitely with an inflamed tendon in his left foot, Paul was frustrated. "Man, I was hurt to find that out because nobody loves to play the game of basketball probably as much as me and Chaunce," Paul said. Paul considers Billups a brother-type figure. When Billups suffered a torn Achilles tendon last February, an injury that kept him sidelined for nearly 10 months, Paul still sought Billups' advice from the bench.
