Update: The Bruins will try to continue their upward trend after a 19-point victory over Pepperdine on Monday. Michael Roll has been a standout at guard but has been forced to play too many minutes with UCLA so thin in the backcourt. Portland should be a challenge, led by guards Nik Raivio and T.J. Campbell, both shooting better than 54% from three-point range.

Update: USC forward Marcus Johnson will make his season debut tonight after issues related to last season's transfer from Connecticut kept him out of the first two games. Trojans Coach Kevin O'Neill said Johnson will "play a lot of minutes," but his role will hinge on the availability of forward Alex Stepheson.

MEN Pepperdine 75, Hampton 66: Dane Suttle scored a career-high 22 points for the Waves in the World Vision Challenge at Laramie, Wyo. Pepperdine (2-3) overcame an early eight-point deficit and rode hot outside shooting by Suttle, who made all five of his three-point attempts in the first half. Keion Bell scored 18 points for the Waves, who made six free throws in the final 1:23 to seal the win. Darrion Pellum and Michael Freeman each scored 16 points for the Pirates (0-4)
