Fountain maker: An article in Business on Sunday about Mark Fuller said his project for the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas amounted to $2.7 million. His firm's contract was for $27 million. Kids' Reading Room: In the March 7 Kids' Reading Room, a review of the book "Friends" by Helme Heine appeared in Creativity Corner, a column of original writings by young readers. It should have appeared in Kids' Book Reviews. Classic Hollywood: The Classic Hollywood column in Wednesday's Calendar said that "The Goldbergs: The Ultimate Goldbergs" DVD set was available only on the Shout!

A week before Mother's Day, Ms. Bidwell announced the essay contest for Mother of the Year. She passed out paper and pencils. Katy Keene was stumped. What could she write? Her mother was the queen of mean! Katy chewed on her pencil and sucked the eraser. (Which her mother would never allow.) She got an idea. Her eyes squinted, and her lips curled. Scribble, scrabble, scribble, her pencil almost flew! When the bell rang, Katy was still writing. Ms. Bidwell let her take the essay home. Katy wrote before setting the table and after drying the dishes.

When he drove by an abandoned mini-mall near Belmont High School, he saw a charter school for inner-city children. And when Cummins walked through obsolete aerospace buildings from the 1960s, he saw classrooms for kindergartners.
