DoHoang (Tini) Duong has joined the staff of Assemblyman Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove), where she will be a field representative focusing primarily on concerns in the expanding Asian-American communities. Duong, 23, will visit Asian-American neighborhoods to find out how Umberg can provide assistance, a spokesman said. She also is expected to pinpoint major issues facing the Asian-American residents for possible legislative action in Sacramento.

Garden Grove firefighters have won praise from State Rep. Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove), who presented them with resolutions commending their performance. "We wanted to demonstrate acknowledgment of their work," Umberg said. "The state is bankrupt, and the cities feel the pinch and are asking firefighters to take cuts. Although times are tough, we appreciate what they're doing." In recent remarks at two fire stations, Umberg cited the work of Garden Grove Fire Capt.

He could also seen on the tube comparing AIDS deaths to body counts in Vietnam and Korea and attacking the U.S. Conference of Bishops for its opposition to the Strategic Defense Initiative.
