An Arizona-based resort operator bought the Southfork Ranch of television's "Dallas" fame for $2.6 million at auction Saturday. The bid covered the 5,931-square-foot ranch house, a 63,000-square-foot convention center and 41 acres of land.

"What is this Amerikanski film about?" loudly asked one passing tourist from the Central Asian republic of Kazakhstan who didn't understand the director's admonishment in English.
