The 24th annual American Cinematheque Award presentation to Matt Damon on Saturday night was far more Friars Club Roast than earnest tribute to the 39-year-old actor-humanitarian. The only thing missing onstage at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom was Dean Martin, who used to host those old celebrity roasts on NBC way back when. Instead of Dino dishing out the zingers, there was talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, who opened the breezy, bawdy ceremony by ticking off the films of another actor named Matt.

Remember that "save the date" rumor about Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, back in February? It turns out the date to save was Saturday, when the two renewed their vows at sunset on St. Lucia island in the Caribbean. Officiating was Damon's late-night frenemy, Jimmy Kimmel, according to People . Overall, it was quite the contrast to their low-key city hall ceremony in late 2005. The Damons, who met 10 years ago, spent $1 million to rent out the entire Sugar Beach resort for the pleasure of their approximately 50 guests, People reported (though other sources put the bill at a more modest $600,000)

Rain Dragon A Novel Jon Raymond Bloomsbury: 272 pp., $16 paper FADE IN: A car idles in the foggy pre-dawn, pointed at the end of a cul-de-sac. Inside, an attractive 30-ish couple, DAMON and AMY, are worn from travel. She is dark-haired, pale-skinned and tense, and she leans against the passenger window. Behind the wheel, he carefully watches her mood as they evaluate the appearance of an owl in front of them. Good omen or bad? They can't decide, and continue on, lost.

A federal appeals court in Boston has ruled that filmmaker Michael Moore did not defame an Iraq war veteran when Moore used a clip from a TV interview without his permission in "Fahrenheit 9/11." Army Sgt. Peter Damon, who lost his arms when a tire on a Black Hawk helicopter exploded while he and another reservist were servicing it, claimed he was humiliated and emotionally distressed after Moore included the clip in Moore's 2004 documentary criticizing the Bush administration and the war in Iraq.

For weeks, Mitt Romney has gotten off scot-free in Florida because his cash-starved GOP rivals lack the financial resources to attack him on TV. Now a Democratic labor union is about to fill the void, attacking Romney's business record in a new ad, accusing him of what it calls "corporate greed" and linking him to Medicare fraud at a company where he once sat on the board of directors (see video below).   AFSCME has purchased airtime in Florida for the 30-second spot, which bends the facts to link Romney to Florida's Republican Gov. Rick Scott, another businessman-turned-politician who once ran a company that paid $1.7 billion in fines, penalties and damages for Medicare fraud (still a record)

In the airy Venice apartment where Damon Lawner and Natacha Merritt are working to escalate the sexuality of L.A. night life, two slobbery chocolate Labradors ambled about with a tennis ball. A couple of actors and designers huddled over a long table, pencil-sketching some stage-blocking ideas for the duo's upscale fetish party Sanctum . By the stairwell, a vermilion-haired model cheerily tried on lingerie with varying degrees of structural difficulty, and Merritt posed the girl's limbs just-so.

Matt Damon is reportedly getting married again - to his wife and mother of his children, Luciana Barroso. Seems their discreet city hall ceremony back in December 2005, while official, wasn't the stuff of their dreams. Now, more than seven years and three daughters later, they're planning a destination wedding to be held in April, according to the New York Post. "They had a really low-key wedding in Manhattan," a source told the Post's Page Six , "so now they want to do something bigger.

Johnny Damon would love to return to the New York Yankees. Apparently the feeling isn't mutual. “Going to focus on what we have for now,” Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman said in an email to Newsday on Monday afternoon. That's coming from the general manager of a team that actually has a need in the outfield, with the injured Curtis Granderson expected to be out several weeks. And a team that won a World Series in 2009 with Damon's assistance. "I would have tons of interest to go to New York," Damon said on ESPN Radio earlier on Monday.

Matt Damon is on strike, but not from acting. The Oscar-winning actor took the podium in a video released Tuesday to announce that he's boycotting toliet use until more people begin to take the global water crisis -- championed by his Water.org non-profit -- more seriously. But don't take the strike itself seriously. Damon's announcement comes in a humorous three-minute video released by the nonprofit group, the first in a series of videos shot at YouTube studios in Playa Vista that the organization hopes will go viral.

A casually dressed Matt Damon takes the podium and announces a stunning personal protest. People just aren't taking the global water crisis seriously, he says. So, until they do, he won't be using the toilet. Damon's public vow to take such a drastic step is part of a short humorous video the actor made to draw attention to the world's water crisis. The approximately three-minute video, "Strike With Me," to be released online Tuesday by Damon's nonprofit group, Water.org., continues a trend by such charities to harness the power of celebrity to create viral video campaigns around serious causes.

Hollywood's most celebrated fake feud reached its epic climax Thursday when Matt Damon took over "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for the night. It was an hour of entertaining revenge for the Oscar-winning star, who's been "bumped" from Kimmel's show hundreds of times over the years. With his nemesis bound and gagged in a chair, Damon had free rein over the entire broadcast, which he kindly renamed "Jimmy Kimmel Sucks. " It all began with a monologue in which Damon ruthlessly taunted Kimmel and proved himself an adept stand-up performer.

Hollywood's most celebrated fake feud reached its epic climax Thursday when Matt Damon took over “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for the night. It was an hour of sweet, highly entertaining revenge for the Oscar-winning star, who's been “bumped” from Kimmel's show hundreds of times over the years. With his nemesis bound and gagged in a chair to the rear of the stage, Damon had free rein over the entire broadcast, which he kindly renamed “Jimmy Kimmel Sucks.” It all began with a monologue in which Damon ruthlessly taunted Kimmel (sample dialogue: “I am Luke Skywalker and Kimmel is the Death Star -- big and round and easily destroyed through his garbage hole”)

Hey, Jimmy Kimmel, Matt Damon wants the last laugh - and Thursday night he's doing the kidnapping to prove it . First, a little background. OK, a lot of background.   The actor has been made fun of repeatedly on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" over the years, a gag that started in the show's early days when guests weren't that great and Kimmel was trying to liven up the show by pretending they didn't have enough time for the movie star. (Kimmel later admitted that he did the gag simply to amuse a producer, because the show was so bad they would never have bumped any A-lister.)
