The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday that winger Daniel Sedin, who missed the first three games of their playoff series against the Kings because of a concussion, will join the team for a full practice on Tuesday. A loss to the Kings on Wednesday at Staples Center would end the season for the Canucks, who won the Presidents' Trophy for having the NHL's best regular-season record. The announcement, made on the team's Twitter feed, was something of a surprise. Sedin, who was injured March 21 when he took an elbow to the head from Chicago's Duncan Keith, had practiced once last week but was unable to play in the Canucks' two losses at Vancouver.

It's been 11 years since the Kings won a playoff series, so what's another four days? Well, plenty actually, if you believe Kings Coach Darryl Sutter, who wasn't too happy about the extended break in their best-of-seven Western Conference first-round series against the Vancouver Canucks - and maneuvered his way through yet another off-day Saturday. Last Sunday, the Kings held a commanding 3-0 lead in the series and looked poised to eliminate the Canucks, the Presidents' Trophy winners as the NHL's top regular-season team.

The presence of Daniel Sedin in Los Angeles is not a sure-fire guarantee he will play for Vancouver in Game 4 of their playoff series with the Kings. First, there is the matter of Tuesday's full practice with the Canucks and how he is feeling the following day. Vancouver Coach Alain Vigneault spoke Monday afternoon in Santa Monica about Sedin's status and potential availability for Wednesday's game at Staples Center. Sedin last practiced with his teammates a week ago. "Again, that won't be my decision on that," Vigneault said.

Daniel Sedin's return to the Vancouver Canucks had a doubly detrimental effect for the Kings, denying them a first-round playoff sweep and creating a new threat they must defuse when the series resumes Sunday in Vancouver. The gifted winger's first appearance since suffering a concussion on March 21 boosted the Canucks' spirits and talent level. He especially raised the game of his linemate and twin, Henrik, as they combined to score with a man advantage and seal Vancouver's 3-1 victory Wednesday at Staples Center.

VANCOUVER, Canada--Greetings from Vancouver, where only one of the Sedin twins was on the ice for the Canucks' game-day skate in advance of Wednesday night's first-round playoff opener against the Kings. Coach Alain Vigneault said afterward that Daniel Sedin, who has a concussion, won't play Wednesday. "This is a unique injury and you have to take it day by day," he said. Vigneault also said he would not address reports in the Swedish media that Daniel had experienced headaches after skating on Monday.

Success can be relative and the Kings have had success against two relatives in building a 2-1 series lead over the Vancouver Canucks. Center Henrik Sedin , the NHL scoring champion, and his identical twin Daniel have had their moments but have not been dominant. Daniel has two goals and three points and Henrik has three assists; the other winger, Alex Burrows , has been shut out. In splitting the first two games at Vancouver the Kings used Drew Doughty and Rob Scuderi as a shutdown defense pair against the Sedin line.

Daniel Sedin had a goal and two assists, his twin Henrik added three assists and Andrew Raycroft made 30 saves in the Vancouver Canucks' 4-1 victory over the Ducks on Wednesday night in Vancouver, Canada. Christian Ehrhoff, Alex Burrows and Ryan Kesler also scored to help Vancouver bounce back from a loss to last-place Edmonton on Tuesday night. The win was the Canucks' second in five games and kept them five points ahead of Colorado atop the Northwest Division. Henrik Sedin moved back into the NHL scoring lead with 99 points, one more than Washington's Alex Ovechkin.

Reporting from Vancouver, Canada -- It seemed as if Vancouver's Sedin twins were triplets Thursday when they combined on one goal and each set up another in the Canucks' 3-2 overtime victory over the Kings in the teams' playoff opener. There were only two identically gifted, red-bearded Sedins on the ice, but what a twosome they were in giving the Canucks the edge as the series resumes Saturday at GM Place. Henrik , who led the NHL this season with 112 points, set up Daniel for Vancouver's second goal and made a perfect pass from behind the net to Mikael Samuelsson for the winner at the end of a nearly two-minute shift.

Broken stick. Broken play. Broken (Kings) spirit Even when something seemed to go wrong for the Canucks in the third period, it ended up turning out just right for Vancouver in its first-round playoff series against the Kings. For example, the winning goal: Mikael Samuelsson's stick shattered on his shot. The puck caromed off the Kings' Michal Handzus to a waiting Daniel Sedin. Game and series over. The Canucks would add an empty-netter, but Sedin's goal was the difference in Vancouver's 4-2 victory in Game 6 against the Kings on Sunday night at Staples Center.

Canucks star forward Daniel Sedin, out because of a concussion since March 21, said he expects to be in the lineup Wednesday night against the Kingsfor Game 4 of their first-round playoff series at Staples Center. In fact, he was fairly emphatic. "Yeah. Absolutely," he said in the dressing room after Wednesday's morning skate. Wednesday night they are planning to start goalie Cory Schneider in Game 4, the team said. Roberto Luongo, the starter in the first two games of the series, was not made available for comment.

You had to know it couldn't be that easy. These are the Kings. Nothing comes easily for them except disappointment. They had a chance Wednesday to add to their modest list of franchise firsts and sweep a best-of-seven playoff series, but were stymied by the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks, who rediscovered their grit and passion in an impressive 3-1 victory before a disappointed crowd at Staples Center. An effort that was very much like what the Kings gave in winning the first three games and moving to the brink of their first playoff series win since 2001.

Vancouver Canucks star Daniel Sedin was back in the building ... and back on the ice. As for Game 4 against the Kings? His readiness will likely come down to a game-time decision Wednesday. The forward, who has been out since March 21 because of a concussion, rejoined his teammates at practice in El Segundo on Tuesday afternoon. It was the first time in eight days he has taken part in a full practice.  “It felt great. It's been a tough four weeks," said Sedin, who flew to Los Angeles from Vancouver on Monday.

The Kings have waited 44 years to hold a 3-0 lead in a playoff series. Waiting an extra day before they can finish off the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks isn't bothering them. Players assembled Monday in El Segundo for a meeting and off-ice workouts, barely 12 hours after recording a 1-0 victory that put them in position to win their first playoff series since 2001. Game 4 isn't until Wednesday at Staples Center, so only a few players skated. That group did not include winger Kyle Clifford, who suffered an apparent head injury in Game 1. "I think it's actually a good thing to have a few days off to regroup, to get our legs back and be able to prepare for the next game," defenseman Drew Doughty said.

SkateGate? Even a couple of Kings' players thought Daniel Sedin's goal was going to count, and were (pleasantly) surprised when it was waved off after a painfully long review lasting about six minutes Monday night at Staples Center. In the end, there was one man's opinion largely determining the matter and it was NHL vice president of hockey operations Mike Murphy saying that Sedin had kicked the puck in. Murphy's take, in an interview with the CBC after the Kings' 5-3 win in Game 3, shed some additional light on his thinking behind the decision.
