Simeon Woodall scored 20 points and Harold Sylvester added 15 to help Campbell Hall High overwhelm its Canadian opponent, A.L. Fortune, 76-47, Friday in the quarterfinals of the La Canada tournament. Campbell Hall (7-1) advanced to a semifinal against San Fernando at 6:30 p.m. today. Center Alex Lopez added 11 points and five of Campbell Hall's 26 assists.

The Dallas Cowboys' defense forced six turnovers, including Manny Hendrix's 34-yard interception return for a touchdown with 39 seconds to play, as the Cowboys beat the Chicago Bears, 17-9, Monday night in a National Football League exhibition game. The Cowboys (2-1) recovered four fumbles and intercepted two passes on the 100-degree evening before 47,796 fans and a national television audience.

Despite a 69-14 rout of North Texas State in Saturday's opener, Oklahoma Coach Barry Switzer said he is accustomed to better execution by his teams. "I was not very happy with our performance, both offensively and defensively," Switzer said. "We were a ragged football team today. "We won the ball game, scored a lot of points, played a lot of players and dominated the game, but at the same time, I like to have a flawless performance from a football team."

Two Arkansas football players, Kevin Hunt and Mike Porter, rented a sailboat at their Miami Beach hotel the other day for an after-practice sail. A strong wind came up, capsizing the inexperienced mariners, who were unable to right their craft. As they hung on to their upside-down boat, yelling for help, it drifted out four miles into the Atlantic Ocean. Four hours later, they were rescued and towed back to the beach by two Cuban-American fishermen.
