Data Processing Resources Corp., a provider of information technology staffing services, posted record net income of $1.3 million, or 16 cents a share, for the second fiscal quarter ended Jan. 31, more than double the $542,000, or 11 cents a share, posted for the comparable period last year. Revenue was up 80%, to $23.8 million from $13.2 million. Some second-quarter operating results related to the acquisitions of Professional Software Consultants Inc.

Data Processing Resources Corp. said its public offering of 2.1 million shares of common stock was priced at $17.50 each. A shareholder also is offering another 200,000 shares at the same price, the company said. The company, which provides information technology staffing services, said it plans to use the proceeds to open new branches and finance additional acquisitions. Data Processing's stock climbed $2.125 per share Wednesday to close at $20.125 in Nasdaq trading.

Data Processing Resources Corp. said Tuesday it has completed its acquisition of Leardata Info-Services, Inc., a Dallas-based information technology staffing firm, for $21.4 million in cash and stock. Data Processing, based in Newport Beach, also provides information technology staffing services.

Data Processing Resources Corp. said Wednesday it is planning an offering of 2.2 million shares of common stock to generate funds for future acquisitions, opening new offices and other general purposes. Data Processing, which provides technology staffing services, also said it has agreed to acquire Dallas-based Leardata InfoServices Inc., another provider of technology staffing, for $19.8 million in cash and stock.

Data Processing Resources Corp. has acquired Phoenix-based Professional Software Consultants Inc. for $4.9 million in cash. Professional Software, which has about 130 consultants serving four states, generated revenue of about $9.3 million for the fiscal year ended Oct. 31, Data Processing said. Newport Beach-based Data Processing provides technology staffing services.

Data Processing Resources posted higher earnings and revenue for the fiscal year ended July 31. The company, which provides staffing services in the technology field, reported that net income rose to $3.3 million, or 55 cents a share, from $2 million, or 41 cents a share, for the prior year. Revenue rose 17% to $58.1 million from $49.6 million. For the fourth fiscal quarter, net income increased to $1.1 million, or 15 cents a share, from $533,000, or 11 cents a share, a year ago.
