Referring to Diane Pucin's (Oct. 30 column), I concur 100%. We are far better off without any team in this market since the NFL in their financial greed and wisdom saw fit to allow Queen Georgia to have her way for a $25-million donation to the kitty, thus allowing a second vote to move, and, of course, they had no guts to face up to Al Davis, so the Raiders do what they want (and still lose). As a season ticket holder--two tickets from 1976 until the move to Anaheim, then four seats until the departure to St. Louis--and also a charter Rams' Booster member, I was one who did not try to stop the move as one could see the handwriting on the wall.

It's no secret that people drink alcohol before they turn 21. Stories about binge drinking on college campuses and alcohol-fueled high school parties are as easy to find as the Facebook photos that document them. But underage drinking isn't all fun and games. Kids who don't know their limits can drink to the point of alcohol poisoning, and those who feel invincible — as many at that age do — may underestimate the danger of getting behind the wheel. Some experts say the solution is to lower the legal drinking age to 18. More than 130 college chancellors and presidents have signed a petition initiated in 2008 in support of the idea.

She does it without even thinking, as soon as she steps out of the truck: a sweep of her eyes across the sky for a sign of bald eagles. They're as common here as ravens, as hawks, but they're bigger and easier to see from a distance. Maybe a single circling eagle will spiral down to the spot where lies her son -- or his body, whatever is left of it. Dolly Hills has come to think along those lines. She is 53, one moment sprightly, the next sorrowful.
