Actor David Hasselhoff, the "America's Got Talent" judge known for his playfully Hoff-ful puns, has listed his longtime family home in Encino at $4,195,000. The 8,947-square-foot Southern Colonial, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, sits on nearly 1.5 acres entered through double gates. A tree-lined drive leads to the two-story home, which has a two-story great room with soaring ceilings looking out on the backyard and a boulder-lined swimming pool with spa. There is a formal dining room, a screening room, two guesthouses and a tennis court.

ANOTHER major legit opening on the Strip, another blockbuster delivered with a big fat wink. "The Producers," now at Paris Las Vegas, is the latest Broadway bonanza to get the Sin City treatment. Squashed to an intermission-less 95 minutes, this middling remount wrings whatever it can out of its name-brand goods while introducing a kitschy gimmick that gives the whole experience a Vegas difference.

If you thought David Hasselhoff's YouTube video rendition of "Hooked on a Feeling" was kitschy, just wait until you see him in a dress. The former "Baywatch" lifeguard takes on the role of flamboyant director Roger DeBris in the musical "The Producers," which began preview performances last week at the Paris casino-hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The official opening is Friday.

Re "Hasselhoff -- behind the breakdown," Opinion, Aug. 8 I would have thought it difficult to find a more self-absorbed human being than David Hasselhoff. But there it is, right there in the byline and pathological name-dropping: Joel Stein. JON HARRIS Malibu

FIVE YEARS AGO, this column would have been packed with David Hasselhoff jokes. But I got to know the man, and watching a nice guy fall apart isn't as funny to me as it is to the rest of you. So this column will only have an average amount of David Hasselhoff jokes.

Dirk Nowitzki, who grew up in Germany, told reporters during the NBA's Western Conference semifinals that he has a free-throw ritual to help him relax. The Dallas Mavericks forward said he hums the song "Looking for Freedom" by his boyhood idol, David Hasselhoff. Hasselhoff, who on Friday attended Game 2 of the Mavericks' conference finals series against the Phoenix Suns at Dallas, thought he was hearing things when he found out about it.

There's someone having an awful lot of fun with actor David Hasselhoff's image these days, and it happens to be "The Hoff" himself. The 6-foot-4 star of the hugely popular "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider" TV series has been playing himself recently in such varied theatrical fare as "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" and John Waters' gleefully filthy "A Dirty Shame."

"Baywatch" and "Knight Rider" may raise sniggers from highbrow critics at home, but they are still going strong in India -- so much so that David Hasselhoff, who starred in both TV series, was voted international star of the year at this year's annual Bollywood Movie Awards. The ceremony was held Saturday at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City as part of Bollywood's bid to be considered a global force in cinema.

"Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff and his wife suffered broken bones Thursday when the actor lost control of a motorcycle in West Los Angeles and hit a curb, police said. Strong gusty winds were blamed for the crash, which occurred about 3 p.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard beneath the San Diego Freeway, said Police Officer Jason Lee. Hasselhoff was thrown against a light pole; his wife, actress Pamela Bach, fell onto the roadway. Both were wearing helmets, Sgt. Christopher Kuntz said.
