DeAndre Jordan can ice the aching feet. He can wrap the tired knees. Soothing his newest defensive asset requires a more creative remedy. "A lot of tea," the Clippers center said late Saturday night. "Something with a lot of honey in it. " That's right, nothing says quality defense quite like Jordan's motormouth, which is running from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Just go to a Clippers game and listen. He's often talking on defense even before the ball crosses halfcourt, letting his teammates know what's happening and what they need to do about it. "I'm out front and I can't see everything behind me," Clippers point guard Chris Paul said.

Believe it or not, there are remaining, lingering points of interest in the final three-and-a-half weeks of the Clippers' season. Starting with second-year center DeAndre Jordan . If anything, Jordan's progress and playing time has been one of the more debated issues among the fans. Many wonder and question why he isn't playing more. Jordan is averaging 14:41 minutes per game and played 24 minutes in Sunday's 102-89 loss to the Kings, scoring eight points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Doc Rivers' message had a nice ring to it: Vote for D.J. The Clippers coach said Wednesday he had lobbied his fellow Western Conference coaches to cast an All-Star vote for center DeAndre Jordan , who has become one of the game's elite big men in his sixth NBA season. "I got a great response," Rivers said, "but that's why you go under a curtain and you vote for real because [they say], 'Yeah, I'm going to vote for him' and then they [pull] that other lever. " The coaches will select the seven reserves from the West who will be announced Thursday afternoon on TNT: three frontcourt players, two backcourt players and two wild-card players from any position.

Here's one for you: What would you do? I've grown to like the Clippers, love what Chris Paul has brought to them and appreciate what Blake Griffin has to offer. It's a fun group, Randy Foye and Caron Butler solid as individuals and Eric Bledsoe and Nick Young out of control but always in the cause of making something happen. Mo Williams is sour, but there's always one, or two, if you want to count Kenyon Martin . But who needs them if DeAndre Jordan is in the room?

Two rare or unprecedented sights to look for during the Clippers' upcoming season: • DeAndre Jordan's image on the cover of the team's media guide with franchise players and acknowledged leaders Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, a statement about what will be expected of the 25-year-old center in his sixth season. • DeAndre Jordan, in person, on the court during the fourth quarter of tight games. New Coach Doc Rivers' imprint is on both moves. On the first point, Rivers made it known he wants to promote a "big three" concept rather than focusing on All-Stars Griffin and Paul.

His teammates constantly encourage him, doing all they can to keep Clippers center DeAndre Jordan engaged. They have all seen Jordan's development on offense, so now the idea is to get him the ball more than the Clippers did last season. "I know that he worked a lot on his offense all summer," said Clippers guard Chauncey Billups. "You've got to throw DJ a bone or two. You've got to make him feel like he's involved. And if you do that, he's going to play extremely hard on the other end. I know that about him. " That was the case Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The last Clippers fans saw of DeAndre Jordan, he was making his usual fourth-quarter playoff moves. Turning his head to watch teammates run up the court. Readjusting in his seat whenever the urge struck. Standing up during timeouts. It's tough to earn your eight-figure salary when you're confined to the bench for four of six fourth quarters, as Jordan was during the Clippers' first-round loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. "There's always some frustration," Jordan said of not playing late in games.

DALLAS - With Chris Paul suffering a separated right shoulder, the Clippers needed some help from other sources. They got it from center DeAndre Jordan and backup point guard Darren Collison in a big way in the Clippers' victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. Jordan scored a career-high 25 points on 11-for-14 shooting. He also had 18 rebounds and two blocked shots. BOX SCORE: Clippers 119, Dallas 112 "DJ was great," Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said.

Technical fouls were flying in the third quarter, one going to a rare Clippers recipient ( Ryan Gomes ) and a not-so-rare offender ( DeAndre Jordan .) "That was my second one ever," Gomes said, "ever since I've been in the NBA. When [the official] made the call, I kept talking about it instead of leaving it alone. I brought it upon myself, got caught up in the moment. "I won't get another. I guess every 2 1/2 years I'll get one. " Said Jordan: "It seems like you can't say anything now. I'm not going to say anything that's going to get me in trouble.
