The Clippers have never won more games in a season. They've also never been better at home. All of which may not mean much depending on how the next few months go. There was no denying that the Clippers' 117-105 triumph over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night at Staples Center gave them franchise records of 57 victories and 34 home wins in the same season. BOX SCORE: Clippers 117, Nuggets 105 Of course, those aren't the ultimate goals for a team seeking to make it past the second round of the playoffs for the first time.

The Denver Nuggets must rank among the most heavily tattooed teams in NBA history -- and that's after trading ink magnet Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons last November. . . . Especially unusual are the red lips behind Kenyon Martin's right ear -- a tribute to rapper Trina, his girlfriend. . . .

DENVER -- Teams often complain about playing in the high altitude in Denver, which is one mile -- or 5,280 feet -- above sea level. The Clippers will see how they will do playing at this high altitude when they face the Denver Nuggets on Monday night at the Pepsi Center. Of course, the Nuggets usually have something to do with teams playing poorly in Denver. The Clippers have lost two consecutive games and 10 of their last 12 in Denver. Jamal Crawford was asked at the Clippers' shoot-around Monday how a player can adjust to playing in Denver's altitude.

In another bizarre twist for the Denver Nuggets, they have reportedly fired George Karl after the NBA's coach of the year had asked the team about extending his contract past next season. This gives the Nuggets a second vacancy after General Manager Masai Ujiri, the NBA's executive of the year, recently departed for Toronto. Nuggets President Josh Kroenke told the Denver Post that because of the uncertainty with Karl's contract situation and Karl's possible interest in the Clippers' coaching opening, Kroenke wanted to start anew with another coach.

Matt Barnes has been fighting injuries even before the season started, making it mentally tough on the Clippers small forward. But he was back playing Saturday night for the first time in almost a month, back doing what he loves doing and that was helping the Clippers beat the Denver Nuggets. “It's been hard for me to catch a rhythm all season, being hurt during the summer time, training camp and up to now,” Barnes said after he scored 13 points on five-for-12 shooting. “It's really been a mental season for me so far, kind of seeing where I can help the team when I get back.

The Clippers made this one look easy most of the time. Even when the Clippers seemed to ease up and watch their leads shrink, they just put it back in gear and kept right on rolling toward a 112-91 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night at Staples Center. The Clippers got their season-high fourth consecutive victory because of Jamal Crawford's 27 game-high points, Blake Griffin's double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds and Chris Paul's double-double of 10 points and 11 assists.

When Matt Barnes walked out onto the Los Angeles Clippers ' court before practice started Friday to begin some shooting drills, he wore dark goggles, sort of a Terminator-look for the small forward. Barnes has missed 16 games recovering from surgery on his left eye for a torn retina, but Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said Barnes would play Saturday night against the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center. And, no, Barnes won't be wearing those shaded goggles, but he will wear a clear pair when he plays to protect his eye. "I think it'll be good," Rivers said.
