There is "no pervasive evidence" to support conspiracy theories in the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Justice Department said in closing out its inquiries into the killings. A recent but undated memo obtained by San Diego ophthalmologist Louis P. Kartsonis under the Freedom of Information Act contained the department's belated response to a 10-year-old request by the House Assassinations Committee for an inquiry.
