Henrik Zetterberg scored the tiebreaking goal with 6:22 left to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night in Detroit. The Red Wings have won 13 straight at home, one off the franchise record set in 1964-65. San Jose 3, Washington 2 -- Joe Pavelski and Jonathan Cheechoo scored in a shootout and the visiting Sharks beat the Capitals for the 10th time in a row.

Johan Franzen's tiebreaking short-handed goal helped the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Vancouver Canucks, 3-2, on Tuesday in Vancouver, Canada. In other games: Miikka Kiprusoff made 24 saves and the Calgary Flames beat the St. Louis Blues, 3-0, at Calgary, Canada.... Yanic Perreault and Oleg Saprykin each scored two goals to lead the Phoenix Coyotes over the Minnesota Wild, 4-3, at Glendale, Ariz....

The Detroit Red Wings fired Jacques Demers as coach Friday and hired former Washington Capital coach Bryan Murray to be both coach and general manager. Murray, 47, had guided the Capitals to the playoffs in seven of his nine full seasons, but his team never advanced past the second round. He was fired and replaced by his younger brother, Terry, in January.
