In one of the largest retail property sales in the San Gabriel Valley this year, Burnham Pacific Properties Inc. of San Diego has paid $58 million for a large chunk of The Plaza at Puente Hills in Industry. Burnham bought a 516,538-square-foot portion of the center from Dicker Warmington Properties, which developed the mall in three phases between 1986 and mid-1992. The 778,822-square-foot mall is on a 61.

Someone wants to build a 40-acre spaceship in Burbank. The spaceship wouldn't fly, but just sit in the middle of downtown Burbank. It would contain department stores for earthbound consumers. Other builders would like to put a giant commercial farm downtown, or turn the property into a huge automobile center.

A Newport Beach developer Friday bought a major chunk of La Habra Fashion Square, taking the first step toward transforming the sleepy mall into a high-volume promotional center. Hopkins Development Co. paid less than $14 million, a comparatively low price, for about 14 acres of the 37-acre mall.
