Disney rolled out its cruise itineraries for next year on Tuesday -- and L.A. trips weren't on the list. The Port of L.A. issued a short statement that reads in part: "They're a valued customer, this is a solid market for them, and we hope to continue working with them any way we can in the coming years.

The videotape was grainy, but Mike and Ann Coriam could make out their daughter clearly enough. Wearing slacks and a collared shirt, she picked up the phone in a hallway of the Disney Wonder, a majestic 964-foot cruise liner that made weekly voyages to the Mexican Riviera. Rebecca Coriam dialed an on-board number, talked for a moment and then began to cry. A fellow crew member aboard the ship stopped briefly to ask Rebecca if she was OK. She nodded. Yes. The young man walked away.

Reporting from Ko Olina, Oahu - My 11-year-old daughter, Hannah, has wanted to visit Hawaii since Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" movie came out in 2002. The wacky animated movie about a Hawaiian girl who adopts a pet that turns out to be an alien was filled with surfing, hula dancing and exotic locales. But mostly it was about ohana - the Hawaiian word for "family. " So when we arrived at Disney's new Aulani hotel in Hawaii it seemed like a no-brainer that we'd find Lilo and Stitch here to welcome Hannah to the tropical paradise that filled her dreams and imagination.

Disney Cruise Line last week canceled 15 cruises of the new Disney Magic--its first cruise ship--blaming construction delays for forcing it to postpone the ship's maiden voyage from March 12 to April 30, 1998. About 15,000 to 20,000 passengers are affected, Disney spokeswoman Amy Foley estimated. She said they may either re-book at a 25% discount or get a full refund. The Disney announcement follows Holland America's latest postponement of Rotterdam VI's maiden voyage, from Oct. 30 to Nov. 11.

Months after drug violence in Mexico prompted Princess Cruises to cancel all stops at Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, the company has added the two Mexican ports to the itinerary starting in November of next year for one of its ships. So far, no other cruise line has followed Princess' lead. Princess, based in Santa Clarita and owned by Carnival Corp., announced in August that it would no longer drop anchor in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta because of growing worries about drug violence in Mexico.

Violence in Mexico has led some major cruise lines to bypass Mazatlan. The one-time popular stop on the Mexican Riviera has been skipped by ships this week after a Feb. 22 shooting that left two dead in the parking lot of a hotel in the city's tourist area. Norwegian Cruise Lines has canceled all stops in Mazatlan through April 30, choosing instead to give passengers an extra night in Cabo San Lucas. The cruise line announced the itinerary change as a news alert on its website.
