Is the Walt Disney Co. considering adding a "Star Wars"-themed land at one of its parks in Anaheim? That question has been on the lips of Disneyland guests and annual pass holders who in the past few weeks began receiving a survey by Disney, asking them about their interest in "Star Wars. " On Twitter, at least one Disney guest posted a screen grab of the survey, which asked: "How interested would you be in visiting a Star Wars themed land at Disneyland Resort?" Other questions included: "Which Star Wars characters would you definitely not want to see or meet in person?"

"On our way to renew our vows," Carey tweeted beforehand. "I love you @Nick Cannon. " Carey and Cannon married in the Bahamas on April 30, 2008, and exactly three years later welcomed "dem babies. " The couple renew their vows every year in a full, over-the-top ceremony -- last year at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

A ride at Disneyland and another at neighboring Disney California Adventure Park remained closed Tuesday as park officials worked to fix safety violations cited by the state. Disney officials said they voluntarily closed Disneyland's Space Mountain and Soarin' Over California at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim over the weekend while they review their safety procedures. The state's Division of Occupational Safety and Health issued fines Friday of $234,850 for six violations related to the maintenance of fire extinguishers and safety barriers and anchors for exterior cleaners and other workers on Space Mountain.

A Walt Disney Co. executive who worked his way up from busboy at a Walt Disney World hotel has been named the new president of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. George Kalogridis, a 38-year Disney veteran and former Disneyland executive, replaces Ed Grier, who retired last week. As president, Kalogridis, 55, will oversee about 20,000 employees at the 506-acre resort, including the Disneyland Park, Disney's California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney and three hotels. Since 2006 Kalogridis had held the post of chief operating officer for Disneyland Resort Paris, where he oversaw 9,000 employees, two theme parks, seven hotels and the Disney Village, a retail, entertainment and dining district adjacent to the resort.

Labor disputes are casting a shadow at two Southland hotel operations at the height of the summer vacation season. At the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, the union representing workers at three Walt Disney Co.-owned hotels said Friday that it had rejected a contract offer amid a dispute over healthcare coverage. And at the historic Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, the union representing employees demanded Friday that management negotiate a new contract to replace the agreement that expires the day the hotel fires most of its staff and closes for an 18-month renovation project.

Jack B. Lindquist: The 64-year-old executive oversees the operation of all West Coast Disney attractions. He joined the company in September, 1955, as Disneyland's first advertising manager. He was named marketing director of the park in 1965, and director of marketing for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World when the Florida park opened in 1971. After several promotions, he was named Disneyland president last October.

One of the biggest, but unfortunately contested, projects to come to Orange County since 1955 is the proposed Disneyland Resort. Not since 1955, when Disneyland opened its gates for the first time, has Orange County had the opportunity that it has today. We should all be familiar with Disney's proposed project, at least in concept, from all the press coverage. In essence, they wish to build a second gated theme park modeled in concept after the highly successful Epcot in Florida.

A family-restaurant owner whose fortunes have long been linked to Disneyland now finds himself fighting the corporate giant's theme park expansion plans for his restaurant's economic survival. Afraid that his Tiffy's restaurant at the corner of Katella Avenue and West Street might soon be plowed under and made into a street for the $3-billion Disneyland Resort, Ben Hathaway said he had no choice but to sue the city and Disney seven weeks ago over the project.

The Walt Disney Co. and the city of Anaheim grew up as kids on the block. The old neighborhood of orange groves has changed, but today they are grown-ups still horse-trading over playthings. The entertainment giant has ambitious plans before the city for the $3-billion Disneyland Resort. The stakes are high for both. Anaheim's Disneyland environs today are tacky and run-down; Disney wants an updated foothold on tourism in Southern California.

A disabled man who was stuck inside Disneyland's "It's A Small World" ride four years ago and later sued the amusement park has been awarded $8,000 in a court decision, the man's attorney said Tuesday. Santa Monica-based attorney David Geffen said his paraplegic client, 52-year-old L.A. County resident Jose Martinez, went to Disneyland with his wife for the first time since he was a child on Nov. 27, 2009. The pair were having a great time, Geffen said, but the "It's a Small World" ride "stopped working as he was just exiting the goodbye tunnel.

Workers at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park took photos of visitors entering the parks Tuesday as part of a new crackdown on abuse of multiday passes. The photographing of guests - including children - delayed visitors' getting into the park by about 45 minutes, parkgoers said. "They delayed literally thousands of people in line to do this process," said Bob Shoberg, a San Jose resident who visited Disneyland with his wife, daughters, in-laws and grandchildren.

Re "Woman's lawsuit accuses Disneyland of bias," Aug. 14 If I had broken as many rules at my job as Imane Boudlal did at hers with Disneyland Resort, I would have been fired. There would have been no offer of any other position within my company. Disneyland is a theme park, with employees dressing as "cast members" of a fantasy world. Her supervisors even offered a specially designed scarf (which needed corporate approval). This is bordering on absurd. If Walt Disney Co. settles by paying her off, I may consider not renewing the annual pass I have had for more years than I can count.

In a match made in corporate-branding heaven, Starbucks says it will open branches inside Disney resorts in California and Florida. Yes, now you can enjoy your favorite caffeinated beverage as you hang with your favorite rodent. So here's a question: Why did it take so long for these super-popular brands to climb into bed together? And here's another: Why stop there? The first of the Starbucks outlets is scheduled to open this summer at Disneyland California Adventure in Anaheim.

The fireworks at Disneyland had ended. It was past closing time and the crowds were pouring out the gates, but we lingered. Layla Alshawi, the 63-year-old mother of our friends, didn't want to leave. She hugged a light pole, joking that we would have to drag her out. We'd spent three days at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim with my friend, Saif Alnasseri, his wife, mother and 5-year-old daughter. Like my husband, whose name is also Saif, he was an Iraqi translator I met in 2007 during my rotations in the Los Angeles Times' Baghdad bureau.
