Jacoby Jones proved he didn't have two left feet on the field when he took on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII earlier this month. But will that hold true on the dance floor? During a commercial break in Sunday night's Academy Awards, ABC ran an ad announcing the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver as a contestant on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars.” (See, live-viewing has its rewards.) Jones, 28, helped the Ravens to their victory in the big game, with a 108-yard kickoff return and a 56-yard touchdown catch that demonstrated his spinning abilities.

Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver retired last week after a 14-season career with the team. A player beloved by many, Driver made sure one Packers fan got a personal goodbye from him. Angie LeRoy, 78, was featured on a newscast in the Green Bay area on Wednesday. She has rooted for the Packers for about 50 years, and Driver was her favorite player. A cancer survivor, she decorated the outside of her home with a poster wishing Driver a fond farewell and thanking him for his years with the team.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver , who blogged for The Times while winning "Dancing With the Stars" last season, spent some time discussing this season's competition with Sports Now editor Houston Mitchell. Driver, a Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowl player, offered his thoughts via email. Q: Are you surprised that Emmitt Smith was eliminated just before the finals? Thoughts were with those braving the storms in the East, but in the glitterverse the forecast was high and dry with a chance of twang during Country Week on “Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars.” The sixth week of competition was themed to match the Country Music Awards (also airing on ABC), and we were treated to down-home versions of ballroom standards, in addition to a country-themed group freestyle dance. To kick off the proceedings, Little Big Town gave us a ride on the “Pontoon” accompanied by a cowboy hat-wearing, toe-tapping “DWTS” Troupe.

Donald Driver has waltzed away with the "Dancing With the Stars" mirror ball trophy - or rolled away. Driver, hearing in Tuesday night's show that he'd beaten Katherine Jenkins, dropped to the floor and rolled several times before jumping back up and being leapt upon by partner Peta Murgatroyd for a dancing hug. Appropriately, their gymnastic celebration was energetic yet graceful. Over the course of the competition, Driver talked with the L.A. Times' Sports Now blog about his "DWTS" odyssey - about his relationship with Murgatroyd , facing the pressure of the competition and his family's reaction. It turns out, being an NFL star is great preparation for the pressure and physical strain of a ballroom dance competition.
