There are some writers who slow down with age. Terrence McNally, 72, is in many ways the opposite - a playwright who seems to grow more productive and adventurous as he gets older. With four Tony Awards to his name, McNally could easily rest on his honors. But the writer clearly isn't in the retirement mind-set. This week, McNally is at the Ojai Playwrights Conference to present his new play "AndAway We Go," a time-hopping, meta-theatrical drama that he describes as one of his most experimental works.

HBO has had much success turning such notable plays as "Wit," "Dinner with Friends" and "Angels in America" into cable-movie events. Now the premium cable channel is reportedly setting its sight on another theatrical title, "Stick Fly. " Lydia R. Diamond's drama about a wealthy African American family staying on Martha's Vineyard opened in 2009 at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles. The play eventually made its way to Broadway in 2011, with a roster of producers that included pop singer Alicia Keys.

The 100-year-old Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County knows how to make an entrance. On Saturday night, following a black-tie dinner to celebrate its centennial, the museum lifted the curtain on its brand-new entrance, the Otis Booth Pavilion. The $13-million structure is a six-story-high, multimedia-infused glass cube that's now home to the museum's famous fin-whale skeleton, which hangs in a diving position from the ceiling. Until now, the building has been under wraps, with mystery mounting as to what shape it was taking under its tightly fitted white tent.
