Randy Moss to the New Orleans Saints? Sounds kind of crazy with everything else that the Saints have going on right now, but it could happen. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer is reporting that the awesome-when-he-wants-to-be wide receiver will work out for the defending NFC South champions on Tuesday. Moss is one of the best wide receivers in NFL history and, even though he spent all of 2011 out of the league, he still could be a valuable asset to a team ... if he wants to. And he says that he wants to. But do the Saints, who were the No. 2 seed coming out of the NFC last year, really need to bring in the talented but controversial receiver right now?

A day after San Diego Charger Coach Marty Schottenheimer called his team's quarterback race a virtual dead heat, Drew Brees supplanted 39-year-old Doug Flutie on Monday as the starting quarterback. Brees, 23, a second-round pick in 2001, appeared in only one game last season as the backup to Flutie, who started 16 games and threw for 3,464 yards--his NFL career high. "What I ultimately arrived at was that Drew is going to get better with every snap that he plays," Schottenheimer said.

Holy Candy, the horse part-owned by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, was scratched Saturday morning from the Santa Anita Derby, a few hours before the 75th running of the $750,000 race that serves as a major prep for the Kentucky Derby. Holy Candy will instead run in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on April 14. Brees is one of 12 members of Donkey Island Racing, which owns Holy Candy along with breeder Craig Stables, headed by Jenny Craig. Alex Solis Jr., who manages Donkey Island Racing, said trainer John Sadler wanted to give Holy Candy an extra week off, plus he likes the horse's chances at Keeneland better.

Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III can run the football. It's one of the more exciting elements of his game. Sunday, it cost him. On third-and-goal at the three-yard line, about halfway through the third quarter, Griffin rolled right against Atlanta and tried to tuck the ball and run. While he was in the process of being tackled along the sideline, he was drilled in the head by Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. It was a legal hit because Griffin was technically a runner at the time, although the play was recorded as a sack for a loss of two yards.
