More than half the 54 children found during Orange County drug lab busts in 1999 have tested positive for chemical exposure, according to the county's first methamphetamine task force report. The finding is a striking example of the harm the county's methamphetamine trade can cause children, said Phillip J. Falcetti, a task force member and director of the Community Alliance Network, a program of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.

Police confiscated about 220 marijuana plants Wednesday growing under brush less than a mile from where another crop of 550 plants was discovered Saturday. Brea police, who serve Yorba Linda, said authorities believe the crops were planted by the same people. "This took a lot of people to put together," said Lt. David Carlock. Both marijuana farms were planted in plastic tubs irrigated with plastic pipe illegally tapped into a landscape waterline. They were camouflaged with thick brush.
