A moderate earthquake rumbled through the Hawaiian Islands early Tuesday, authorities said, but no damage or injuries were reported. U.S. Geological Survey officials in Reston, Va., said the quake, with a magnitude of 5.3, was centered on the Big Island of Hawaii, 25 miles southwest of Hilo.

An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale rattled dishes and awakened some residents in the Hawaiian Islands on Saturday morning. Richard Sillcox of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center here said the quake was centered about 35 miles northeast of Maui.
