The 39th Annual Eddie Awards for cinema editors was held this weekend at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with a tie vote for best editing of a feature motion picture shared by Gerry Hambling for "Mississippi Burning" and Stu Linder for "Rain Man." "Thirtysomething" editors Victor DuBois and Steven Rosenbloom won best editing of an episode from a television series.

"The Hurt Locker" and "The Hangover" shared the limelight at the American Cinema Editors' 60th annual ACE Eddie Awards on Sunday evening. Bob Murawski and Chris Innis won for "The Hurt Locker" in the drama category, while Debra Neil-Fischer of "The Hangover" was honored for the best-edited comedy or musical film. The awards were handed out Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Other film editors picking up awards were Kevin Nolting in the animation category for "Up" and Geoffrey Richman in the documentary category for "The Cove."

The editors of "JFK," "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" have been nominated for Eddie Awards by the American Cinema Editors. Winners will be announced March 21. "Born on the Fourth of July," the documentary "Roger and Me" and the television special "Roe vs. Wade" are nominees in the 40th annual Eddie awards for editing from the American Cinema Editors. Steven Spielberg was declared filmmaker of the decade for his "prestigious efforts to enhance the art of film editing," the honorary professional association announced Thursday. The awards ceremony will be held March 24 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Shining Moment: Rudi Fehr and Robert Swink will receive career achievement awards from the American Cinema Editors at the annual ACE Eddie Awards banquet on March 27. Spielberg Honored by Editors: Steven Spielberg won the first "Filmmaker of the Decade" award from the American Cinema Editors Thursday. The 40-year-old organization honored Spielberg for his contribution to film during the '80s, and because "he deals with editors as equal contributors to the creative process," according to ACE president George Grenville. Spielberg will receive the award and deliver the keynote speech March 24 during the 40th annual ACE "Eddie" Awards at the Beverly Hilton.

Aced It: "JFK" was named the best-edited feature film of the year at the American Cinema Editors 42nd Annual ACE Eddie Awards in Beverly Hills on Saturday. Editors Joe Hutshing and Pietro Scalia beat out editors for the other nominees, "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." The best edited documentary award went to "Hearts of Darkness" editors Michael Greerand Jay Miracle for the film about the making of the movie "Apocalypse Now."
