Put two small, quick basketball teams on the same court and you usually expect those two teams to end up putting on a track meet from one end of the court to the other. In a semifinal game of the El Dorado basketball tournament Friday night, Saugus Canyon's transition offense was good enough to outscore El Dorado, 81-71. But for most of the first three quarters, Canyon (4-2) had trouble getting its fast break in gear.

Aprile Powell has played against Empire League rival El Dorado the last three years and seen overtime, games won at the last second, and a 5-foot-2 opponent guard her. But never did Powell, the 6-foot-2 senior center for Century, expect Tuesday's outcome. In the matchup that annually decides who wins the league title, Century scored a 50-16 victory over El Dorado. The margin of victory was, in her word, "shocking."
