The Indians rallied moments after Uhlaender got tossed for arguing, and Ellis Burks hit his fourth home run in two games Wednesday night in a 4-2 victory over the first-place Minnesota Twins at Cleveland.

"It's fun to be able to play in the month of September for the division." San Francisco returns to Pacific Bell Park with a 9 1/2-game lead with 14 games to play.

The Boston Red Sox, their chance at defending the American League East title slipping away, will be without center fielder Ellis Burks for the rest of the season. Burks separated his right shoulder in a collision with left fielder Mike Greenwell in Oakland last week. It was first thought that he would miss only about two weeks. But Burks says now that he is through for the year. "My next game will be in spring training," he said Monday night.

After convincing the trainers he was OK, Burks hit two homers and drove in four runs as the Giants beat the Braves, 12-3, at San Francisco. It was the Giants' sixth straight win. "I woke up this morning not feeling as strong as I usually do--but good enough to play," he said. "And I'm glad I did."
