The Crenshaw district, a primarily black community located between downtown Los Angeles and the airport, may become the next century's boom town as real estate and home hunters discover its bargains, according to government and business officials meeting on the area's future. Crenshaw 2000, sponsored by the Crenshaw Chamber of Commerce and Councilwoman Ruth Galanter's office, was held Saturday at Dublin Avenue School to provide residents a picture of possibilities.

Frank Holoman, 57, Crenshaw-area restaurateur. Claim to fame: Entered restaurant business in 1985, when he opened his first Boulevard Cafe in Santa Barbara Plaza shopping center. He has since opened two more Boulevard Cafes in Inglewood, and another Crenshaw eatery, Ebony Mexicana. Publishes Holoman's Black Achievers, a monthly newspaper focusing on black success stories. Background: Born on a family-owned farm in McCaskill, Ark., he graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.
