Think about the most recent Clippers developments along these lines: This would be a lot like a new family moving into a house and establishing residence, leaving no doubt about ownership. Symbolically speaking, that's what happened Thursday. Baron Davis' name was wiped out with a few brush strokes and replaced by the kids Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon . Those calling the shots with the Clippers talked about the trade of Davis and a 2011 first-round draft pick to Cleveland for guard Mo Williams , 28, and small forward Jamario Moon , 30, in terms of future salary cap flexibility.

Blake Griffin came within two rebounds and two assists of a triple-double, scoring 30 points, in the Clippers' 100-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon at Staples Center. He made sure to give recognition to the human assist: shooting guard Eric Gordon. Gordon, who was playing his first game since March 5 because of a sprained right wrist, had 29 points and five assists, making six three-pointers. "Physically, him being out there just changes the game for us," said Griffin, who had eight rebounds and eight assists.

Reporting from Dallas ? Their leading scorer will probably be out until after the All-Star break, The Franchise hurt his elbow in the second half and their fiery point guard got into an expletive laced back-and-forth with the opposing coach. Other than that ? just another boring day for the Clippers. On a night when they learned they may be without star shooting guard Eric Gordon for possibly as much as a month, the Clippers blew a 15-point lead against Dallas at American Airlines Center.

Call it a fresh chapter, or maybe closure, for former Cavaliers Mo Williams and Jamario Moon and possibly the start of a healthy finish for Eric Gordon . Williams and Moon are facing Cleveland for the first time since they were traded to the Clippers last month in the Baron Davis deal. And Saturday represents a return to action for Gordon, who has played only one complete game since Jan. 22 when he sprained his right wrist. "It won't be hard," Williams said Friday.

A White House visit with the Clippers seems pretty far removed from long bus rides and cheap motels. JamesOn Curry doesn't need to win a championship to live his dream; merely walking onto an NBA court is enough of a pinch-me moment for the guard who has spent his professional career shuttling around the Development League. Calling himself "very blessed and very thankful" for the opportunity after signing a 10-day contract, Curry worked out with the Clippers on Saturday and held his own in a post-practice shooting drill with Baron Davis . He could make his NBA debut today against the Washington Wizards.

Why was Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro sounding hoarse and looking annoyed after the Clippers' 92-87 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night? The Clippers pulled off their third straight victory, and it was a rare road win. More improbably, it came without the pure shooting services of star guard and leading scorer Eric Gordon. Del Negro said he wasn't pleased with the overall defensive effort in the first half and thought the Clippers came out "soft" at Time Warner Cable Arena against the faltering Bobcats.

Regardless of anyone's opinion of Al Davis, he is again to be commended for the ability to follow his own conscious, rather than maintain status quo. When he felt his franchise could reap economic benefits by moving from Oakland to Los Angeles, he proceeded despite opposition from the NFL hierarchy. When he felt the Raiders straying from the traditional path known as Raider football, he had the courage to make a change during the course of the regular season. More important, he drew upon a gem, Hall of Famer Art Shell, to resurrect the "pride and poise" that we have known as Raider football.
