Two summers ago Jessica Blank and her boyfriend, Erik Jensen, embarked on a road trip from New York to Minneapolis. It was no vacation. They were visiting survivors of death row. "We'd drive to one person's house, do an interview for two or three hours, get back on the road, drive 12 hours into the next state to get there just in time for the next interview. One of us would sleep and one of us would drive," recalls Blank, sitting in front of the empty stage at the Actors' Gang theater.

"The Exonerated," an affecting new telefilm based on the off-Broadway play devoted to the stories of six people vindicated after wrongfully being sent to prison, reminds us of the simple power of words when delivered by fine actors. Writers Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen used interviews, court documents, depositions, testimonies and letters to craft their script, an anthology that plays as a scathing critique of American justice.

ESPN'S lively new miniseries "The Bronx Is Burning" takes a trip to summer 1977, when, amid internal power struggles, the Yankees strove to win their first World Series in 15 years and a killer stalked the boroughs. Like the source book by Jonathan Mahler, it focuses triply on the Bronx Bombers in the season they imported the expensive, divisive Reggie Jackson; the hunt for the Son of Sam; and the sociopolitical paroxysms of the city in an age of polyester, punk and wild-style graffiti.

No one is celebrating yet at Calvary Chapel, but it's going to be difficult for the other Olympic League teams to deny the Eagles a second straight league title. Brethren Christian was Calvary Chapel's closest pursuer, and the Warriors threw away--literally--a chance to pressure the Eagles by losing, 8-2, at home on Tuesday. Calvary Chapel (14-4, 10-0) has a three-game lead over Brethren Christian (12-7, 7-3) with five games to play.
