As usual you missed the mark and fell short of the target in your editorial analysis of racism on campuses. Believe it or not, there are no panacean halls absent racism in today's American society, be it college institutions, employment, sports or entertainment. We as black people are "married" to racism and not unlike a marriage we deal with the problems it breeds on a daily basis. Black people are "estranged" in that marriage when we continually watch the white power structure make decisions that are not in our best interest and continue to victimize us and our children.

Dear Amy: Several times a year, my wife and I have dinner with three other couples. We all get along fine, but I do not look forward to these get-togethers because the evenings have turned into four hours of inane, shallow chitchat. My wife says friends should avoid sensitive issues like politics or religion, but I am at a loss as to how to get more stimulating conversation flowing. If someone is talking about milk prices, it is hard to break in and say, "What do you think about healthcare legislation?"

"It is obvious Miss Han is a danger to society, particularly her own family," said Orange County Superior Court Judge Eileen C. Moore. "All of her family have been victims of her crimes."

Three have been fired and 10 have quit. Nine have been promoted. Two have killed suspects while on duty. And one stands accused of falsifying evidence in a murder case. For most of the 44 Los Angeles Police Department officers labeled "problem officers" in the landmark 1991 Christopher Commission report, the past four years have been tumultuous. The commission said its intention was to illustrate, not define, what it called "the problem of excessive force in the LAPD."

Simon Cowell is expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, the estranged wife of one of the talent-show judge's good friends - that according to several reports out Wednesday. Seems that as Lauren, 36, and her real-estate mogul husband Andrew Silverman grew apart, she and the 53-year-old "The X Factor" judge grew closer. Apparently much closer.  But it's not quite as scandalous as all that. "Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while," a source tells Us Weekly , which first reported the story.  Cowell told GQ magazine in 2011, when he was engaged to former fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy, that he'd ruled out fatherhood, even though it was something he'd always wanted.

Last month, as they ate lunch outside a fancy London restaurant, world famous art collector Charles Saatchi physically roughed up his wife, the TV chef Nigella Lawson. Unaware that a paparazzo was snapping away , Saatchi squeezed Lawson's windpipe four times and shoved his finger up her nostril. Lawson, teary and fearful, dabbed at her eyes. Saatchi stalked out and got in their car, as she followed, sobbing. Tabloids on both sides of the Atlantic went crazy. "Arti Choke," blared the inimitable New York Post.

The day before Michelle Kane was slain, Los Angeles police officers took two reports from her regarding her estranged husband, officials said. In the first report, concerning a violation of a temporary restraining order, officers documented "everything that occurred, including taking tape-recorded statements," LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith said. As part of that first interview with police, Michelle Kane provided officers with a tape recording of hers and reported an incident that she said took place Thursday outside the Topanga Area station, in which her estranged husband, Michael Kane, made verbal threats toward her as they were involved in a prearranged custody exchange.
