Search-engine maker Ask Jeeves Inc. announced it is buying the bulk of ETour Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of Web directories and online direct marketing services, for undisclosed terms. The sale includes ETour's database of 4.5 million users who signed up for the site's guide of recommended Web sites. Privately held ETour's remaining 10 employees aren't a part of the acquisition. Emeryville, Calif.-based Ask Jeeves plans to incorporate ETour's online directory into its search engine site.

Serious Net heads may already be familiar with cyber stud Mahir Cagri, who has been called the first Internet celebrity. The 37-year-old Turkish freelance journalist gained international fame last month for his home page, which bears the salutation "Welcome to my home page!!! I kiss you!!!" and is illustrated with shots of Cagri playing the accordion and lying on the sand in a Speedo. He writes that his interests include travel ("I go 3-4 country a year") and women ("I like sex").
