Florida in March is the vacation destination your mother warned you about. Which is one of the reasons Disney Channel sweethearts Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens were drawn to the candy-colored sleaze that is Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers. " It's their chance, with ABC Family's Ashley Benson ("Pretty Little Liars"), to break free of the parental-guidance considerations that have ruled their careers. Lewd, lush and mind-emptying, "Spring Breakers" mixes the commercial lure of its bikini-clad good girls turned bad with Korine's brand of subculture excavation ("Gummo," "Trash Humpers")

"The Wizard of Oz," starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Margaret Hamilton and Frank Morgan, is one of the most beloved films in all of cinema. In fact, according to the Library of Congress, the musical fantasy is the most-watched picture in history. But how did the film fare at the box office and with critics when it came out in 1939? "'The Wizard of Oz' was a moneymaker for its time," noted William Stillman, co-author of "The Wizardry of Oz: The Artistry and Magic of the 1939 M-G-M Classic," by email.

As a doctor, Jonathan Tam has a message for San Gabriel Valley residents: Eat your vegetables. Farm Cuisine, his new organic restaurant in Monterey Park, is trying to get cost-conscious Chinese diners to buy healthful organic takes on traditional Chinese dishes. But the pricier meals are a tough sell in the heavily Asian American valley, where more than 500 Chinese restaurants are in a pitched battle to offer authentic dishes at ever lower prices. Assi Natural Market carries dozens of kimchi products. There are more than 200 kinds of dumplings. Its carts mimic the red and green of Sriracha sauce bottles. All of which seems to indicate a pretty standard Asian grocery. But once it opens this month in Irvine, Assi aspires to be a hybrid of cultures - like the growing and increasingly moneyed population of second-generation Asian Americans it hopes to draw into its aisles. The goal, manager Thomas Yoon said, is to become the Whole Foods of ethnic supermarkets.

Lexus earned the top score in Consumer Reports' 2013 annual ranking of car brands and vehicles. The American car companies were near the bottom of the rankings. Japanese nameplates dominated the ratings with Subaru and Mazda tying for second. Overall, eight of the top 10 scores were earned by Japanese brands. None of the domestic automakers made the top 10. At No. 14, Cadillac did the best, helped by good marks for its sedans. Other General Motors nameplates and almost everything from Chrysler suffered from inconsistent reliability.

When a trade group for corporate travel managers recently predicted airfares would rise in 2013, the group probably didn't expect the hikes to be launched so quickly. Domestic airfares are expected to jump 4.6% in 2013, while international rates will probably rise 8.3%, according to a survey of travel managers by the GBTA Foundation, an arm of the Global Business Travel Assn. The group attributed the increase to rising demand from companies ready to take advantage of new business opportunities in a strengthening economy.

Years after she first saw "The Passion of the Christ," Lori Pearson still feels queasy when she recalls the brutally graphic movie about the final hours of Jesus' life. "After I left the theater I remember feeling physically uncomfortable," said Pearson, a Dublin, Ohio, mother of two teenagers who writes movie reviews for the website Kids in Mind . "It was gruesome torture sequence after gruesome torture sequence. That kind of thing has a tendency to stay with me. " Pearson and her husband, Aris Christofides, started writing highly descriptive online reviews in 1992 to help parents navigate the sometimes confusing nature of movie ratings, but over the years their audience has evolved to include an unexpected group: adults looking to avoid certain types of screen violence themselves.
