As much as was made about the difficulty of the Ducks' eight-game trip, the four-game stretch that starts Tuesday in Florida is potentially the real trap. "It could be a grind," Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau said. Though the Ducks' journey begins in rare air - they have an 8-0-1 streak, and lead the NHL in points with a 15-3-1 record - areas of concern exist. Boudreau pointed to fatigue as a major concern, noting that the Ducks are in the midst of playing 20 games in 37 days.

The Bowl Championship Series is sort of like what Mark Twain once said about the weather in New England. If you don't like it now, just wait a few minutes. Two weeks ago, Florida State fans were panicked that their No. 3 Seminoles would go undefeated and not make the title game. There was nothing they could do so long as front-runners Alabama and Oregon remained undefeated. Well, guess what? Oregon did not beat Stanford on Thursday and Florida State remained at No. 2 in Sunday's release of the BCS standings.

With Ohio State and Baylor right behind in the Bowl Championship Series standings, Florida State needed a big win over Wake Forest on Saturday, and got it, 59-3. It could have been bigger, too, and unseemly, if not for some class shown by Seminoles Coach Jimbo Fisher . Third-ranked Florida State led, 42-0, at halftime and Fisher removed his Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback, Jameis Winston , after only one series in the third quarter. The move didn't help Winston in the race for postseason honors because he finished with rather pedestrian numbers: He completed 17 of 28 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns with one pass intercepted.

Take a snapshot of these rankings because they could look different next week. Florida State and Ohio State could be the new 1-2 if Louisiana State and Stanford take out the nation's leaders in Tuscaloosa and Palo Alto. Clemson's Tigers should be embarrassed at No. 7 after losing so badly to Florida State, but where else are you going to put them? Good timing: Arizona State's athletic director left for unranked Texas the same week the Sun Devils got back in Rankman's top 25. Making a move down the stretch is racehorse Michigan State, so completely underrated by all of us that the Spartans should play Clemson just to prove it. 1; Alabama 8-0; After Sunday's segment, Saban says he could cut 15 minutes of fat out of "60 Minutes.

Two Navy aviators are expected to recover after a training crash at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., officials said Monday. The aviators, who were not identified, were hospitalized after the crash Monday morning, base spokesman Harry Whites said by telephone. One was in serious condition and the other in fair condition, but both were stable, White said. The Navy T-45C Goshawk jet crashed at the approach end of a runway Monday morning. The two-seat training aircraft, assigned to Training Squadron 86, was on a local training flight and was landing it when it crashed, White said.

There's another big change in the Bowl Championship Series standings but, once again, it might not be a big deal. Florida State used its big victory over Miami on Saturday to move past Oregon into the No. 2 spot Sunday in the third release of the BCS standings. Alabama remains on top with an average of .980, followed by Florida State at .953 and Oregon at .944. It's unlikely, though, that Florida State can hold the No. 2 spot if all three schools go undefeated. Oregon has a much tougher closing schedule, which starts Thursday against No. 5 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.

Well, Las Vegas got it right (what a shock) and so did the other experts. Florida State was more than three touchdowns better than Miami, handing the "U" a big fat "L" on Saturday night in Tallahassee. The final score: 41-14. Florida State was No. 3 in the Bowl Championship Series standings and Miami was No. 7, but these programs are certainly separated by more than four ranking positions. The Seminoles improved to 8-0 and got to soak up prime-time glory on a rest weekend for No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon.

Phil Rawlins heads a group that is about to invest $112 million in a professional soccer team that will play in a state where the sport has failed five times before and in a league in which the vast majority of franchises have never made a profit. And no, Rawlins does not appear to be crazy. "We've done a lot of research on it, we've done a lot of due diligence on it," Rawlins, a transplanted Brit, says of his efforts to bring Major League Soccer's next expansion team to Orlando.
