Police on Tuesday were seeking witnesses to a traffic crash that killed a Huntington Beach man and injured his two passengers, including a woman who is five months pregnant. Humberto Gutierrez, 22, of Huntington Beach died after the Hyundai he was driving crashed into two parked cars and flipped as he traveled east on Warner Avenue near San Bruno Street of Fountain Valley shortly after 11:05 p.m. Monday, police said.

Fountain Valley police officers will sit astride department motorcycles for the first time in 14 years today as the city resurrects its disbanded motorcycle patrol. Five Orange County police departments--Buena Park, Fountain Valley, Irvine, La Habra and Westminster--will share $797,000 in federal grants aimed at upgrading computers and freeing officers from administrative duties so they can spend more time patrolling the streets. The program, now in its third year, gives agencies money to hire civilian employees as administrators, freeing officers for patrols and community-oriented service.

The Police Department this week won approval to revive its long-dormant motorcycle patrols. Four officers now assigned to squad cars are to be trained for the special units, which could be on the streets as soon as six months from now, Police Chief Elvin G. Miali said. Patrols are to focus on Warner, Talbert and Ellis avenues and other streets where moving violations are frequent. The focus is traffic enforcement.
