Free Agents: The original British series — upon which the recently canceled NBC incarnation was based — premieres with Stephen Mangan and Sharon Horgan in the lead roles. With Anthony Head, who was cast in the same role in the American version (8 and 8:30 p.m. BBC America)

MOVIES East of Eden: James Dean stars in director Elia Kazan's 1955 version of John Steinbeck's novel as a young man who isn't happy with his lot in life.

Austin City Limits: The Decemberists highlight songs from "The King Is Dead" and Gillian Welch and David Rawlings perform tracks from "The Harrow & the Harvest" in this new episode (11 p.m. KOCE). A second episode follows at midnight featuring Widespread Panic. MOVIES An American in Paris: Songs by George and Ira Gershwin underscore this 1951 tale of an artist caught between two women in postwar Paris.
