Bill Gates may not be involved with the day-to-day operations of Microsoft Corp. anymore, but he's still got plenty of opinions about the company he founded nearly four decades ago. WASHINGTON -- Former Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates on Sunday said there should be an outside check on the power of a president to order drone strikes on U.S. citizens. Gates, a former CIA director who served as Defense chief under Presidents Obama and George  W. Bush, said decisions to execute Americans should be subject to some outside review, perhaps by a panel of judges or by Congress. “I think that the rules and the practices that the Obama administration has followed are quite stringent and are not being abused,” said Gates, speaking with Candy Crowley on CNN's “State of the Union.” “But who is to say about a future president?

Another Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Japan Airlines encountered a problem at Boston's Logan International Airport, just one day after a fire erupted on a different Dreamliner parked at a gate. About 12:25 p.m. EST Tuesday, a Japan Airlines Dreamliner headed to Tokyo was taxiing to the runway for takeoff when a fuel leak forced it to return to the terminal. Japan Airlines, or JAL, did not immediately provide any information on the incident. A person on the scene said the leak dumped about 40 gallons of fuel on the taxiway.

As the sold-out crowd of 45,050 roared at the start of the pre-race rider introductions at the supercross series' season opener at Angel Stadium, one rider was noticeably missing: James Stewart. At first no one was quite sure why Stewart, the series champion in 2007 and 2009, was not on his Yoshimura Suzuki motorcycle. After all, the Floridian had posted the fastest time during qualifying. The protesters at the palace gates provided the starkest sign yet of the country's deepening political volatility. Dissidents shoved aside a barbed-wire barricade and riot police fired tear gas to push back the crowd.
